What You'll Do
As an Electrical Project Manager, you'll lead the full lifecycle of electrical projects up to $1M, from preconstruction to turnover, ensuring safety, quality, and profitability. You'll oversee design, virtual construction, fabrication, field installation, and startup while leveraging innovative tools to optimize workflows. This role is about execution, leadership, and collaboration-driving project success while mentoring teams and building strong stakeholder relationships.
 
Pay Range: $43-$57 per hour (DOE), FLSA non-exempt (OT eligible).
 
Here's what you'll take on:
Project Leadership & Execution
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and control systems, ensuring timely completion at or below budget.
  • Create accurate cost-at-completion projections and manage estimates to maximize profitability.
  • Oversee construction activities, ensuring compliance with contract specifications, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and JH Kelly's safety and quality standards.
Team Mentorship & Collaboration
  • Direct and mentor project staff, including interns, field engineers, and project engineers, fostering their growth and ensuring successful execution.
  • Act as a proactive liaison between project teams, clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal groups (e.g., Safety, CAD/BIM, Accounting, IT).
  • Represent JH Kelly in stakeholder meetings, coordinating work to facilitate permits and ensure alignment with project goals.
Procurement & Change Management
  • Manage procurement, perform quantity takeoffs, and prepare pricing for change orders.
  • Write and manage RFIs and change orders to address project modifications efficiently.
  • Ensure timely billings and collections to maintain financial accountability and achieve above-bid margin profits.
Innovation & Process Improvement
  • Leverage AI and tools like Bluebeam, Accubid, and MS Project to optimize scheduling, forecasting, and workflow efficiency.
  • Assess project processes for improvement opportunities, implementing best practices to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all project activities for accountability and transparency.
What You Bring
  • Experience: 5+ years managing the full project lifecycle in the electrical industry, with 5+ years of prior electrical field experience (e.g., electrician, foreman) strongly preferred. Proven expertise in scheduling, budgeting, risk assessment, and achieving above-bid profits.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Accubid Classic Estimating, and CPM scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project). Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to manage teams and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Mindset: Proactive, self-motivated, and collaborative, with a commitment to safety, quality, and driving innovation through technology.
  • Education: Technical trade school, associate's degree in Electrical Technology or Construction Management, or equivalent experience. A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is a plus but not required. Journeyman or master electrician license or accredited apprenticeship completion preferred.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical design, industrial controls, the NEC, and construction processes. Experience in multiple markets or sectors is a plus.
  • Requirements: Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites and work overtime as needed.
Physical Requirements
This role blends office and field environments. In the office, you'll sit for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks (e.g., typing, using a mouse), and communicate by telephone. In the field, you'll stand, walk, navigate uneven terrain, climb stairs, kneel, crouch, crawl, and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds. Good vision and hearing are essential for reading plans, inspecting work, and on-site communication. You'll work outdoors in various weather conditions, adhere to site-specific dress codes, and wear PPE (hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed boots). Flexibility to travel and work outside regular hours is required. Reasonable accommodations are available to support individuals with disabilities.
