Job description

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) Engineering Services seeks a motivated, detail-oriented, and innovative individual for our Proposal Intern position. This role offers an excellent opportunity for current students to gain hands-on experience in proposal development, learn from industry experts, and enhance academic knowledge with practical skills.
As a Proposal Intern, you will assist the Proposal team in preparing high-quality proposals, bids, and quotations for SEL products and engineering services. If you are passionate about technical writing, project coordination, and learning how proposals drive business success, this may be the position for you!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Proposal team in developing proposals, bids, and quotations for SEL products and engineering services.
  • Gather and organize technical and commercial information for proposal packages.
  • Support in reviewing customer specifications and identifying compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, and project teams to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge in SEL processes and technologies.
  • Assist with site walks for engineering data collection under supervision.
  • Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
  • Understand. Create. Simplify.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Current student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Background check results satisfactory to SEL.
  • Negative drug test result(s).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering concepts or power systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio or similar tools.
  • Experience in programming and script files.
  • Knowledge of SEL products and services is a plus.
  • Experience with technical writing or documentation.
