Job description

Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Job Description

This role offers an exciting opportunity for an electrical engineer to design commercial, industrial, and educational facilities in the Seattle area for a growing, multi-state engineering firm. You will work on a variety of building projects, collaborate closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and use AutoCAD while further developing your Revit skills. The position is well-suited for an engineer with approximately four or more years of relevant project experience who is eager to grow into a leadership role within a company that highly values its employees and the relationships they build.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for commercial, industrial, and educational building projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Develop detailed electrical drawings and documentation using AutoCAD and Revit for commercial, industrial, and educational facilities.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and project stakeholders to coordinate electrical designs and resolve technical issues.
  • Interact directly with clients to understand project requirements, present design concepts, and incorporate feedback into design solutions.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to design discussions, schedules, and deliverable planning.
  • Apply electrical engineering principles to support commercial building design, construction, and renovation projects.
  • Use tools such as Arc Flash analysis software, EasyPower, and SKM Power to perform electrical system studies and safety analyses.
  • Support commercial construction teams by answering design-related questions and providing clarifications during project execution.
  • Learn and enhance proficiency in Revit for electrical design, transitioning from primarily AutoCAD-based workflows to BIM-centric processes.
  • Contribute to a deadline-driven yet relaxed project environment by managing tasks effectively and communicating progress to the team.
  • Demonstrate initiative and leadership potential, taking on increasing responsibility over time and supporting the growth of the electrical engineering team.

Essential Skills

  • Approximately 4+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on commercial, industrial, and educational projects.
  • Proficiency in electrical design for commercial buildings, including power distribution, lighting, and related systems.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience with Revit and AutoCAD for electrical design and drafting.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical for producing accurate and detailed electrical drawings.
  • Experience working on commercial design and commercial construction projects, including coordination with other disciplines.
  • Ability to interact effectively with clients, internal teams, and other project stakeholders in a professional manner.
  • P.E. (Professional Engineer) or EIT (Engineer-in-Training) license.
  • 4+ years of experience using Revit for electrical engineering and building design.
  • 4+ years of experience with Arc Flash analysis, EasyPower, and SKM Power or similar electrical system analysis tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with educational facility projects and the unique electrical design considerations they require.
  • Experience working within a multi-state engineering environment or on projects across different regions.
  • Interest in growing into a leadership role and mentoring other engineers or designers over time.
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining high-quality work and strong attention to detail.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, including participation in internal training and development courses.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with colleagues and clients.

Work Environment

The work environment is flexible and designed to support a healthy work-life balance. Team members can work remotely within Washington and typically come into the office once a week or once a month, depending on project needs and team coordination. The firm offers a family-oriented culture with frequent internal events, professional development courses, and opportunities to participate in a stock plan. The atmosphere is deadline-driven yet relaxed, encouraging collaboration, open communication, and mutual support among colleagues. You will work with modern design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Arc Flash analysis software, EasyPower, and SKM Power in a setting that values both technical excellence and strong professional relationships.
