Job description

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • 8+ years of electrical engineering experience with direct Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) involvement

  • Prior experience working for an electric utility (required)

  • Proven experience leading multiple large‑scale projects simultaneously from design through commissioning

Plusses:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • Experience with utility‑scale renewable integration (solar + storage, wind + storage)

  • Strong working knowledge of UL 9540 / 9540A, NFPA 855, IEEE 1547, and NEC Article 706

Daily Responsibilities:

This Sr. Engineer will act as the technical authority for multiple utility‑scale battery energy storage projects, overseeing electrical design, system integration, and grid interconnection activities. This role will coordinate closely with internal utility teams, EPC partners, OEMs, and consultants to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in compliance with utility standards and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include reviewing and developing electrical one‑lines, protection schemes, grounding designs, and SCADA/EMS integration while identifying and mitigating technical risks. The engineer will support construction, commissioning, and performance validation activities and provide technical guidance through operational handoff. This role plays a key part in advancing grid modernization and large‑scale energy storage deployment.
