Position Summary:

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for researching and ensuring that electrical engineering components uphold to standards. This position plays a key role in supporting Electrical Engineers by ensuring that the electrical components are working together and the enclosure functions as designed. Other responsibilities of an Electrical Engineer include assisting with proposals and conducting tests to ensure safety and accuracy. The Electrical Engineer will aid in designing and drafting enclosures that adhere to the standards set by both the industry and the military.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct load and stress analysis as required.
  • Perform center of gravity calculations for equipment.
  • Develop performance specifications in accordance with military and commercial marine requirements and standards.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation and contribute to proposal development.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 in a business setting for quality management and requirements. 
  • Able to read and design to various requirement specs including: MIL, ABS, ANSI and IEEE requirements 
  • Understanding equipment qualification to MIL and IEC standards including shock, vibration and EMI qualification
  • Design for obsolescence replacement and support long-term system sustainability.
  • Understanding low and medium voltage switch gear including design principles and associated hardware including: automatic voltage regulators, electronic governors, protection relays, auto synchronizers
  • Understandings of the communication structures using managed switches and fiber optic ring configurations
  • Use various communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, CANbus both serial and Ethernet based
  • Work with various HMI hardware developing custom multi-screen applications
  • Work with various PLC hardware using ladder logic, function block and structured text-based programming
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite effectively; Microsoft Project and Planner experience is a plus.
  • Collaborate directly with other engineers, customers, partners, providing technical support, troubleshooting, and progress updates.
  • Support customer/partner meetings and provide on-site field service support as needed, including on-site troubleshooting, project support, or installation. Travel requirements vary by project
Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the design and manufacturing of low medium and high voltage electrical equipment such as switchboards, switchgear, load centers, etc.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) designation
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of materials as it relates to durability and elasticity.  
·        Microsoft Suite experience (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
·        Ability to travel, replace, modify, retrofit, and/or troubleshoot equipment in the field is required
·        Must be a U.S. citizen
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Solidworks
Schedule: 

·       Monday to Friday, standard business hours 
·       25% or less travel required
