Electrical Engineer / Electrical Project Lead - Buildings Location: Hamilton, ON Job Type: Full-time Salary Range: $80,000 - $120 000 annually A growing engineering consulting team in Hamilton is looking to add multiple electrical building systems professionals at intermediate to senior levels. These roles are focused on mechanical and electrical consulting for buildings, with an emphasis on practical design, project delivery, technical coordination, and client service. This is a good opportunity for electrical engineers or experienced electrical designers who want to work on building systems projects in a collaborative consulting environment.

The team is looking for people who can contribute at different levels, from hands-on design and documentation through to project leadership, mentoring, quality review, and client coordination. The Opportunity You will support the delivery of electrical systems for building projects across commercial, institutional, residential, industrial, public-sector, and mixed-use environments. Depending on experience level, you may be responsible for design work, coordination, technical review, project execution, staff guidance, client communication, or full project leadership.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in electrical building systems and enjoys working with architects, owners, consultants, contractors, and internal mechanical/electrical teams to solve design and coordination challenges. This role is best suited to someone who is technically sound, organized, collaborative, and comfortable working in a consulting engineering environment where priorities, deadlines, and project requirements can shift. What You'll Be Doing Depending on your level of experience, you may be involved in: Designing and coordinating electrical systems for building projects.

Supporting or leading project delivery from early design through construction documentation. Preparing drawings, reports, specifications, design narratives, studies, and technical documentation. Coordinating with mechanical, structural, architectural, civil, and other project disciplines.

Reviewing electrical layouts, calculations, equipment selections, specifications, and construction-phase submissions. Helping develop design concepts and translate them into complete, coordinated project documents. Supporting proposal input, project planning, scheduling, and budget awareness where required.

Responding to technical questions from clients, contractors, consultants, and internal team members. Reviewing work for quality, constructability, code alignment, and coordination with other disciplines. Supporting construction-phase services, including site reviews, shop drawing reviews, RFIs, change documentation, and project closeout.

Mentoring junior team members and helping guide design staff on technical and project-related matters. Identifying design risks, coordination issues, cost impacts, and practical solutions during project delivery. Contributing to internal standards, technical improvements, and better project delivery practices.

Building strong working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams. What You Bring The ideal candidate will bring some combination of: Experience in electrical engineering, electrical design, or electrical building systems consulting. A background in building systems projects such as commercial, institutional, residential, public-sector, industrial, or mixed-use facilities.

A degree, diploma, or equivalent technical education in electrical engineering, building systems, or a related field. Professional registration, eligibility for registration, or a senior technical background with relevant project experience. Strong knowledge of electrical systems used in buildings, including power distribution, lighting, life safety, communications, controls, or related systems.

Familiarity with applicable codes, standards, authority requirements, and common consulting engineering practices. Experience preparing or reviewing drawings, specifications, reports, calculations, and construction documents. Comfort using common design, drafting, modelling, and coordination tools used in building services consulting.

The ability to manage competing deadlines, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and keep project work organized. Strong communication skills with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams. Practical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to resolve technical or coordination issues.

Leadership ability, either through formal project management experience or informal mentoring and technical guidance. Levels Being Considered The team is open to candidates at multiple levels, including: Intermediate Electrical Designers or Engineers. Senior Electrical Designers or Engineers.

Experience leading design staff or reviewing the work of junior team members. Exposure to construction administration, site reviews, RFIs, shop drawings, or contractor coordination. Experience with larger, more complex, or technically challenging building projects.

Familiarity with sustainable design, energy efficiency, or modern building performance expectations. Why Apply. This is an opportunity to join a growing engineering team with a strong pipeline of building systems work in the Hamilton region.
