Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will lead and support a team of electrical engineers and designers within EXP's Oil & Gas Group, helping deliver complex engineering solutions for oil, gas, and chemical-sector projects. This position will provide both technical leadership and people leadership, ensuring electrical engineering work is delivered with quality, consistency, collaboration, and alignment with EXP's standards and client expectations.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

Provide technical leadership and management oversight for electrical engineering work within oil, gas, and chemical-sector projects.

Lead, supervise, mentor, and support electrical engineers, designers, and technical staff in the execution of their responsibilities.

Act as a technical subject matter expert for electrical engineering design, including complex electrical systems and project deliverables.

Be responsible for meeting EXP's engineering quality standards for electrical design work on assigned projects.

Oversee the development of design concepts and ensure proper technical application, execution, and coordination across project teams.

Review and verify the quality of electrical deliverables, including specifications, reports, code applications, submittal reviews, equipment selections, drawings, and other project documentation.

Lead the design team in producing engineering and construction documents that meet project requirements within the required schedule and budget.

Manage work plans, priorities, deliverables, and project execution across multiple assignments while maintaining budgeted hours and quality expectations.

Execute and guide complex electrical designs involving challenging technical requirements, competing priorities, or difficult coordination issues.

Support front-end loading and early-stage electrical engineering planning for oil, gas, and chemical projects.

Develop, review, and support key electrical engineering documentation, including studies, reports, basis of design narratives, one-lines, load lists, and area classifications.

Participate in project safety and risk-related reviews, including HAZOP, PHA, and other safety review processes, as applicable.

Apply EXP's risk management practices to electrical engineering decisions and project execution.

Evaluate value engineering and cost-saving opportunities while considering technical quality, operational impact, and EXP's level of project risk.

Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of EXP's electrical design standards, master specifications, and engineering practices.

Encourage collaboration across disciplines and project teams to develop practical, technically sound, and client-focused solutions.

Positively contribute to EXP's team culture by supporting mentorship, accountability, technical excellence, and professional growth.

What your experience looks like

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent engineering degree.

Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) or eligibility is preferred.

Approximately 15 years of relevant electrical engineering experience, ideally within the oil, gas, chemical, or related industrial sectors.

Strong experience leading electrical engineering design for complex projects, including oversight of technical deliverables, schedules, budgets, and quality expectations.

Demonstrated ability to mentor, guide, and develop electrical designers, engineers, and technical staff.

Solid understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, advanced design concepts, and the full lifecycle of electrical deliverables for industrial projects.

Experience developing or reviewing electrical one-lines, load lists, area classifications, studies, reports, specifications, and basis of design documents.

Experience supporting safety and risk review processes such as HAZOP, PHA, and other project safety reviews is preferred.

Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines, project teams, clients, and stakeholders. This is a suggested manager-level wording based on the leadership and collaboration responsibilities in the attached roles.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables while maintaining technical quality, project budget alignment, and schedule expectations.

This job posting is for an existing position vacancy within our organization.
