Job description

Electrical Controls Engineer

The Electrical Controls Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving plant automation, electrical controls, and manufacturing equipment performance. This role serves as the technical expert for PLCs, VFDs, and control systems, working closely with maintenance and production teams to troubleshoot issues, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements of the Electrical Controls Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical controls engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and system modifications
  • Hands-on experience with VFDs, HMIs, sensors, motors, and industrial automation systems
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, schematics, and safety standards
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills and a continuous improvement mindset

Responsibilities of the Electrical Controls Engineer

  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and controls-related equipment issues to minimize downtime
  • Program, modify, and optimize PLCs, HMIs, and other automation systems
  • Support and improve VFDs, sensors, motors, and plant control equipment
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to improve equipment reliability and performance
  • Lead automation upgrades and continuous improvement projects

Pay is $100,000 - $130,000 annually
