Job description

Role: PLC Engineer

Location: Peoria, Illinois (Fully Onsite)

Type: Fulltime

Overview of Position-

  • The PLC Engineer is responsible for communicating, developing, and executing program schedules, process development, and analysis aligned with internal and external business goals.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead team members
  • Solve technical problems
  • Develop and execute project objectives
  • Ensure delivery within defined timelines
  • Contribute to achieving company goals related to assigned projects

Essential Responsibilities-

  • Develop technical manuals, drawings, models, and training documents
  • Create preventive maintenance plans and troubleshooting guides for automated equipment
  • Support validation of automated equipment operations
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance initiatives
  • Communicate daily departmental activities
  • Interface with automated equipment and control systems to:
  • Eliminate defects
  • Improve cycle times
  • Reduce machine downtime
  • Support development of equipment control requirements and specifications
  • Assist design engineers in qualifying automation controls solutions and applications
  • Prepare and maintain automation equipment documentation
  • Support New Product Development (NPD) automation requirements

Technical Knowledge-

  • Strong understanding of digital logic
  • Clear understanding of PLC scan flow (Inputs → Decisions → Outputs)
  • Ability to work with Set/Reset (Latch/Unlatch) logic (Non-Finite State Machine)

Hands-on experience with:

  • Servo systems
  • Robotics
  • HMI (Human Machine Interface)
  • PLC systems
  • Vision systems
  • Communication protocols (TCP/IP, Profibus-DP, Profinet)

Qualifications / Requirements-

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • (Electrical / Computer Science preferred)
  • Experience with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience in HMI development using Ignition software
