Job description

Sonoco is seeking an Electrical Engineer to provide engineering support for approximately 70 plants across the Division, reporting to the Associate Director of Engineering.

Responsibilities
  • Work on large and small scale initiatives with minimal direct oversight.
  • Act as an Electrical Engineer supporting Capital projects through design and implementation.
  • Provide engineering solutions and support to Plant Managers, Plant Maintenance Managers, and Capital Project Engineering teams.
  • Assist mills in electrical troubleshooting when required.
  • Travel 20-30% of the time, including weekends and extended hours, as necessary to complete objectives.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of electrical power distribution experience, including troubleshooting and design.
  • Advanced computer skills (Word, spreadsheets, CAD, project management software).
  • Solid understanding of Arc Flash requirements for industrial applications.
  • Solid knowledge of the NEC.
  • Experience with industrial electrical distribution from 5kVAC to 120VAC, motor controls, plant lighting, and coordinated drive controls.
Education

A BS degree in Electrical Engineering.

Certification

Professional Engineering Certification in Electrical Engineering.
