About This Role

The Electrical Engineer contributes to the design, development, validation, and support of sensor technologies used in HVAC and building automation applications. This role executes engineering design tasks, laboratory testing, product validation, troubleshooting, and sustaining engineering activities while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and support sensor products and technologies with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Develop release packages consisting of Bills of Material, drawings, specifications, test plans, and engineering documentation.
  • Interface with customers, product management, and internal stakeholders to understand application requirements and develop sensor specifications.
  • Design, build, and perform proof-of-concept experiments, characterization studies, and product validation testing.
  • Support sensor circuit design, signal conditioning, component selection, and design reviews.
  • Develop and execute test plans to evaluate sensor accuracy, reliability, environmental performance, and long-term stability.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and suppliers to implement product and process changes through ECNs and corrective actions.
  • Support product failure investigations, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure sensor reliability through technical evaluation, supplier engagement, qualification testing, and data analysis.
  • Lead and support product cost reduction, quality improvement, and sensor qualification projects.
  • Support component obsolescence management and End-of-Life engineering activities.
  • Assist with regulatory, safety, and certification testing activities for sensor products.
  • Support new product introduction activities from concept through production release.
  • Occasional travel to suppliers, test laboratories, and manufacturing locations may be required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology or Computer Engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in sensor development, electronic product development, product validation, manufacturing support, or related engineering roles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masterโ€™s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology or Computer Engineering.
  • Experience in the design, development, testing, or application of sensors used in HVAC, industrial, automotive, consumer, or building automation systems.
  • Knowledge of sensor technologies such as temperature, humidity, pressure, gas, airflow, current, or occupancy sensing.
  • Experience with electronic circuit troubleshooting and validation techniques.
  • Experience with laboratory test equipment including oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, environmental chambers, multimeters, and other instrumentation.
  • Understanding of analog and digital signal processing, sensor calibration, and measurement system analysis.
  • Experience analyzing test data using tools such as Excel, MATLAB, Python, or similar software.
  • Experience working with suppliers to evaluate, qualify, and implement sensor technologies and components.
  • Familiarity with BOM creation, PLM systems, manufacturing processes, and engineering change management.
  • Knowledge of reliability testing, environmental testing, and certification requirements for electronic products.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $64,500.00 - $129,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.

Other Compensation

This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
