Job description

Description
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Lafayette College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position beginning in the 2027-28 academic year (normally July 1, 2027). All appointments are tenure-track, with credit toward the tenure probationary period determined based on relevant prior academic experience.
We seek a colleague who is committed to being a dynamic educator-scholar, an engaging and inclusive teacher, and a mentor of undergraduate students. The Department seeks candidates with expertise to teach core ECE courses in electronics, instrumentation, computer architecture, cyber-physical systems, or embedded systems. Particular consideration will be given to candidates who can also contribute to the Robotics or Bioengineering tracks within Lafayette's interdisciplinary Integrative Engineering major.
The Department values the ability to teach a broad range of required courses, including those with hands-on laboratory and design projects, and to develop new elective courses in the candidate's areas of interest that engage students across engineering and the liberal arts. The teaching load is four courses per year in the first year, and five courses per year thereafter. Through innovative teaching, impactful scholarship involving undergraduates, and interdisciplinary collaboration, the successful candidate will contribute to the continued growth and vitality of the department.
Located in the Lehigh Valley in eastern Pennsylvania, 70 miles from both New York City and Philadelphia, Lafayette College is a highly selective undergraduate institution that combines the strengths of engineering with a liberal arts education. The ECE Department graduates approximately 16 majors per year and offers small class sizes, extensive laboratory experiences, and close faculty-student interaction. New faculty receive substantial mentoring through departmental peer observations of teaching, a College-wide mentoring program, the Hanson Center for Inclusive STEM Education programming, and the College's year-long faculty development program administered by the Center for the Integration of Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship. Additional support includes funding for conference travel, professional development, and undergraduate research assistants.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, electrical and computer engineering, or similar field or plans to complete the requirements for a Ph.D. prior to August 15, 2027.
