E&I Technician

Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The successful candidate will be required to work on a variety of equipment in support of the entire plant. This includes maintenance repair, inspection, testing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, installing, and overhauling electrical equipment. Normal working hours are 0630-1700 Monday-Thursday . Some overtime will be required and the carrying of a company provided phone may be required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain instrument and electrical equipment through preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Perform and document all calibrations, testing, measuring and repairing of electrical controls, instrumentation and electronic equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions and assist with failure analysis.
  • Test and calibrate equipment and update drawings as necessary.
  • Perform plant priority work as needed, including off-hour support through scheduled and call-in support.
  • Assist with defining appropriate I&E spare parts and maintaining equipment and specification files.
  • Commit to and actively participate in equitable technician resource leveling, overtime allocation and vacation practices.
  • Communicate and maintain procedures, policies, plant direction/results and programs.
  • Ensure that training materials, procedures and records are maintained.
  • Ensure that the MOC process is followed.
  • Provide clear communication with management and operations team for all jobs.
  • Ensure all safety meetings are attended within the group.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Highschool diploma or GED equivalent
  • Knowledge of safety, environmental, and compliance policies.
  • Ability to work closely with key maintenance and operations personnel in providing effective and quality results.
  • Ability to read and understand prints and drawings of various types.
  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience as a qualified electrician.
  • Experience working with and knowledge of control valves utilizing digital, analog and/or pneumatic positioners.
  • Fundamental shop math knowledge and the application of. (Manipulation of fractions, decimals, basic geometry and trigonometry.)
  • Experienced E&I Maintenance Technician with knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems with the ability to effectively troubleshoot and repair these systems while working independently.
  • Must be proficient in the use of diagnostic instruments used to measure voltage, current, resistance, temperature, and other inputs.

DESIRED CERTIFICATION

  • NCCER Electrical - Certification Plus
  • NCCER Instrumenation - Certification Plus

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE DESIRED

  • Associates Degree in electrical and or instrumentation
  • Knowledge of electrical equipment throughout the plant.
  • Knowledge of the Process Safety Management (PSM) / Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Computer skills for effective use of the SAP maintenance program, PC web-based data entry, and other applications.
