Job description

P1 Construction is seeking an Electrical Assistant Project Manager for our Advanced Technologies/Mission Critical construction group for a jobsite in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area. This is a jobsite-based position supported by our Midwest corporate office in Lenexa, KS. Future work would be on jobsites primarily in the Midwest. (This is a Project Management position, not a clerical position.)
If not located in the area of the assigned jobsite, then a travel package will apply. P1 uses the GSA Per Diem rates for assigned out of town work (www.gsa.gov). The package includes travel home about twice a month.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • A significant amount of travel will be required when assigned to an out of area jobsite.
  • Manages electrical construction projects or assists project managers on large projects. Assists the project's field staff, subcontractor performance, and vendor compliance. Thoroughly understands and complies with contract documents, budgets, and safety, statutory, and legal compliance.
  • Assists in the management of project coordination, scheduling and construction.
  • Monitors project accounting and profitability.
  • Maintains constructive relationships and supportive communications with clients, vendors, subcontractors, inspectors, community officials, P1 staff, and immediate supervisor.
  • Contributes to the success of the company by effectively and efficiently managing the construction projects so that it is completed on time (according to adjusted schedules) and within budget.

Qualifications and Skills
  • A significant amount of travel will be required when assigned to an out of area jobsite.
  • Direct Experience: A minimum of 1 year of full-time electrical construction project management related work experience on large-scale construction projects, with direct responsibility for electrical construction activities.
    • Candidates must have some of the following experience directly managing electrical infrastructure installations: low-voltage (120V-600V AC) and medium-voltage (>600V AC) cabling, conduit and raceway systems, cable tray, support structures and related load calculations, medium-voltage terminations, site grounding systems, and cable trench installations. This position does not involve work related to building controls, fire alarm systems, or security systems beyond coordinating the required power supply rough-in.
    • General contractors or project managers overseeing electrical subcontractors do not meet this requirement.
  • Preferred: Experience delivering projects in Mission Critical or Advanced Technology environments, experience with hyperscale data center electrical construction.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Plus one of the following requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in a construction, electrical engineering, or business related discipline OR
    • At least five years of electrical construction field trade experience/training/education OR
    • Equivalent combination of the above.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily pass any applicable jobsite security requirements.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily pass a motor vehicle record check. Must be able to meet P1 qualifications to operate a vehicle on company business. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must have access to drive a well maintained vehicle. Must have up to date registration with the local Department of Motor Vehicles. Both the candidate and the vehicle must be currently covered on a personal insurance policy.
