Job description

Join our Auburn team as a Panel Technician Apprentice and gain practical experience assembling, wiring, and testing custom industrial control panels used in real-world applications.


Panel Technician Apprentice Primary Function :

The Panel Technician Apprentice will be trained to build custom control panels.

Salary Range: $16 - $18/hour

Full-time, Monday - Friday, on-site.


In this position you will work with experienced technicians to learn:

  • Basic electrical theory.
  • To read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Mechanically layout and mount hardware components.
  • Wire complete panel in accordance with PFT panel procedures, UL508A specifications, and other best practices as given by the panel shop supervisor.
  • The use of hand tools, i.e. jigsaw, drills, wrenches, screwdrivers
  • The use of electrical test equipment, i.e. Multi meter
  • Torque check and marking in accordance with PFT procedures
  • Test Custom Industrial Control Panels and OEM Products
  • Point to Point wire tests in accordance with PFT testing procedures


Along with acquiring technical knowledge, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Accounting for parts required for the job
  • Maintaining a neat and orderly work area at all times
  • Organizing and maintaining shop tools and equipment
  • Organizing and maintaining personal tools
  • Organizing and maintaining your project items and materials
  • Help maintain common shop supplies IE Labels, wire ties, wire, etc.


Panel Technician Apprentice Qualifications :

  • Previous experience, training, or schooling in electrical work
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment and hand tools and other power tools
  • Willingness to learn
  • Current, valid, and clean NYS driver's license to operate company vehicles as needed


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for up to 8 Hours
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work on elevated platforms
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • This position may require standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching and/or reaching
  • You may be exposed to dust, loud noises, and hot and cold conditions
  • Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills may be required for hand tools, power tools, and other machinery


Candidates need a clean and valid driver's license to operate company vehicles.
