Job Description: Laborer

The Laborer is responsible for assisting with installations, alterations, additions, and/or repairs of, but not limited to, the following:

  • Underground raceways
  • Squaring of foundation
  • Helping with forming of foundations
  • Pouring and finishing of foundations
  • Control house slabs
  • Miscellaneous foundations
  • Layout of all of the above (consisting of spread, drills shafts, etc.)

They are responsible for assisting with assigned field installations, alterations, additions, and/or repairs of any type of foundations, buildings, and underground raceways. The Laborer performs this work within an established time frame and ensures that this work is done in conformance with quality work standards, project man-hours, and in the established company guidelines and with regulatory compliance.

Candidate will obtain on the job training while attending the Electrical Apprenticeship Program.


Specific Responsibilities: Laborer
  • Must be able to report to assigned job site location on time as directed.
  • Maintain and properly store tools and equipment.
  • Proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Accurately organize materials and tools in order to maintain clean and neat work areas.

This position is Full-Time, Non-Exempt, and reports to the site Supervisor.


Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications for LaborerEducation, Experience, and Qualifications:
  • Must work smoothly with others as a member of a team to complete tasks.
  • Ability to work 10 hours per day, night shift, 40 hours per week and overtime as required with little or on short notice.
  • Clearly understand and comply with Company / Job Safety Requirements (OSHA).
  • Ability to add, subtract, divide and use formulas accurately.
  • Work in restrictive / tight areas. (i.e. switchgear rooms, crawl spaces, utility tunnels, etc.)
  • Must be capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or equipment.
  • Accurately read labels, job site maps / direction and manuals and written instructions.
  • Ability to visualize completed work prior to installation.
  • Must have ability and knowledge to properly give hand signals to operators.
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA requirements.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of scope of work when necessary.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
Travel Requirements:
  • As required by job assignment.
Physical/Work Environment Requirements:
  • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and/or poles.
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Outdoor elements such as precipitation, heat, cold, and/or wind.
  • Light to heavy work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects from 20-100 pounds.
