We partner with engineering firms, manufacturers, and design-build contractors to deliver safe, innovative, and high-quality electrical solutions.

Position Summary

Universal Academy is seeking an experienced Electrical Apprenticeship Training Instructor to lead classroom and handsโ€‘on instruction for our fourโ€‘year Electrical Apprenticeship Program.

This position plays a vital role in developing the next generation of electricians by delivering technical instruction, mentoring apprentices, and supporting workforce development initiatives. The instructor will also assist in curriculum development, evaluate training effectiveness, and promote a culture of continuous learning and safety.

This program is registered with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry and accredited by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).

Work Schedule

The instructor may teach either:

  • Day Classes: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM โ€“ 3:30 PM
  • Evening Classes: Monday-Friday, 12:00 PM โ€“ 9:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver classroom and handsโ€‘on instruction for electrical apprentices.
  • Teach technical skills, safety procedures, and professional development.
  • Evaluate apprentice performance and monitor program effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement training improvements based on performance metrics.
  • Conduct specialized safety and certification training including:
    • Lift & Fall Protection
    • Forklift & Telehandler
    • Arc Flash / NFPA 70E
    • First Aid / CPR / AED
    • Other customerโ€‘specific training as needed
  • Travel occasionally to customer sites, career fairs, trade shows, schools, and preโ€‘apprenticeship programs.
  • Assist with handsโ€‘on practical testing and student evaluations.
  • Stay current on industry standards, electrical codes, and instructional best practices.
  • Maintain accurate training records and documentation.
  • Promote a safe, professional, and positive learning environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support Universal Academy and Universal Electrical Service.
Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Generate passion, determination and patience to be trained as an instructor
  • Strong understanding of electrical theory, installation practices, NEC, and industry regulations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred
  • Previous teaching, training, or apprenticeship instruction experience.
  • NCCER Instructor Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • OSHA certifications.
  • First Aid / CPR Instructor certification.
  • Experience delivering adult education or workforce development training.

Work Environment

This position is based primarily at our Souderton, PA training facility with occasional travel to customer sites, schools, trade shows, and recruiting events.
