Job description

Enterprise Electrical is seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician to support field operations on a Mission Critical Data Center project in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This role is essential to ensuring electrical installations are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 7 years of commercial electrical construction experience, with proven exposure to mission critical / data center environments. As a Journeyman, you will perform advanced electrical work, support crew coordination, mentor apprentices, follow all safety protocols, and ensure compliance with project drawings, specifications, and applicable electrical codes.

Standard Schedule:ย 5/10s + 1/8 (5 days at 10 hours and 1 day at 8 hours each week)

Overtime:ย Available

Project Duration: 1 year+ with additional steady work.

Incentives and Project Perks

Hourly Rate: $42 - $48 per hour

Daily Per Diem:ย $120 (Paid daily, 7 days a week)

Electrical Installation & Construction

  • Install, terminate, and test electrical systems including:
    • Power distribution
    • Conduit (EMT, RMC, IMC)
    • Cable tray systems
    • Panelboards, switchgear, transformers, and UPS systems
  • Perform feeder and branch circuit installations per drawings and specifications
  • Install grounding and bonding systems for mission-critical environments
  • Read and interpret blueprints, one-lines, schematics, and specifications

Data Center / Mission-Critical Scope

  • Support build-outs for data halls, electrical rooms, and support spaces
  • Perform work around live or critical systems following lockout/tagout and energized work procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in data center environments (white space and gray space)

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, and company safety policies
  • Participate in daily JHAs, toolbox talks, and safety audits
  • Identify hazards and stop unsafe work when conditions are not compliant

Team & Project Support

  • Mentor and guide apprentices and helpers
  • Coordinate with foremen, superintendents, QA/QC, and other trades
  • Maintain productivity and quality standards to meet aggressive project schedules

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid electrical journeyman or master license (or an equivalent state license that reciprocates with Iowa).
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical construction projects related to data centers is required.
  • Proven experience in Mission Critical Data Center projects is mandatory.
  • Thorough understanding of NEC codes, OSHA regulations, and essential electrical systems is essential.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and one-line diagrams is required.
  • Experience with electrical systems commonly utilized in data centers, such as UPS, generators, switchgear, grounding systems, and redundant power infrastructure is necessary.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are a must.
  • Willingness to travel and be available for full-time on-site work in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for a duration of 6 months, with new projects commencing immediately after.
  • Strong familiarity with NEC and commercial electrical codes is essential.
  • Capable of accurately bending, installing, and supporting conduit systems.
  • Experience in large-scale power distribution and managing electrical rooms is required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is essential.
  • Robust troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are a must.
  • OSHA 10 certification is required (OSHA 30 preferred).
  • NFPA 70E certification is preferred.
