The Electrical Planner is responsible for coordinating the implementation and operation of the electrical maintenance program. This person interacts with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
What You'll Do:
  • Complete all assigned jobs safely and in the most efficient manner available.
  • Use experience and training to make recommendations that will reduce costs to the assignment.
  • Seek out additional training in any identified developmental areas.
  • Direct supervision of assigned VMC personnel/ Electrical contractors, to assure that all VMC policies and safety procedures are being followed.
  • Assist the Electrical Supervisor / Manager and Operations Management with department cost control.
  • Utilize electrical experience to organize and assign tasks to eliminate idle time wherever possible.
  • Keep the Electrical Supervisor / Manager informed on the progress of all assignments, and of any variables that may change the scope of the assigned task.
  • Ensure electrical work and equipment complies with the NEC, MSHA, and OSHA requirements.
  • Work with department leadership to implement changes necessary to comply with VMC guidelines and policies. Suggest improvements as necessary to make any changes manageable and sustainable.

Responsibilities
Skills You'll Need:
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the electrical trade, laying out work and organizing jobs.
  • Demonstrable experience interpreting pertinent electrical codes (NEC, NESC, & MSHA).
  • Experience in the mining industry is preferred. - A journeyman or master electrician card is preferred.
  • Ability to interact with plant personnel and different levels of management when requests for service are received.
  • The EMP Coordinator, when directed, shall 'lay out' the requested task, determine manpower and supplies needed, and forward information to the Electrical Supervisor /Manager for ordering of materials and scheduling.
  • Flexible and adaptable to coordinate the day-to-day work requirements, as well as handle situations that may arise from time to time, which are outside of the normal routine.
  • Knowledge and experience in interpreting the NEC. Knowledge and familiarity with the NESC, MSHA, and OSHA.
  • Understand VMC's electrical safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Maintain safe operating standards, continually improving electrical safety through observation and coaching of apprentices.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license for the state in which you are assigned.

Other Requirements:
  • Physical Requirements: Use of telephone, computers, cell phones, and other electronic devices is essential.
  • Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Must have the ability to use computerized equipment and technology.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs and occasionally lift heavier items. Travel Requirements: Must be able to drive a pickup truck.
  • Local travel as well as a periodic need to travel by airline.
