Our Oceanic Systems Engineering team is seeking dependable individuals willing to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment and are interested in expanding their horizons. Our Electrical Systems group needs a Electronics Design Engineer to serve as an electrical & electronics team member and technical resource on integrated project teams (IPT).
Responsibilities include collaborating with systems, software, mechanical, manufacturing & quality engineers to: determine hardware requirements for systems; determine hardware architectures; develop hardware designs; define/maintain power budgets; perform trade studies on hardware products; select developmental & operational hardware; document firmware & hardware (schematics & fabrication drawings for custom circuit cards, drawer/rack/system wiring & cabling); develop engineering test requirements and unit/subsystem/system test plans; and perform hardware test & system integration.
Thorough knowledge and experience in designing electronics systems is required. This may include experience in highspeed digital circuits for data acquisition, control, telemetry & communications; selection of and interfacing with COTS hardware and various sensor types; or experience with low-noise analog circuits as well as A/D and D/A converters. Experience with design and troubleshooting electronics and electrical systems related to analog/mixed signal, RF, fiber- optic systems, AC/DC power, FPGAs, microcontrollers, and serial communication; schematic capture, and analysis/simulation tools such as PSpice and/or Saber is preferred.
This position will be located at the Annapolis, MD facility.
This position can be filled as an Electronics Engineer or Principal Electronics Engineer.
Basic Qualifications for an Electronics Engineer:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required. (0+ years with MS degree or PhD)
  • Familiarity with common engineering/office tools (including MathCad, MatLab, schematic capture, MS Office) and analytical techniques including electrical simulation
  • Familiarity with electrical CAD programs such as Mentor Graphics and experience in engineering drawing development
  • US citizen with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI and pass a polygraph

Basic Qualifications for an Principal Electronics Engineer:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required. (3+ years with MS degree or 1 years with PhD)
  • Familiarity with common engineering/office tools (including MathCad, MatLab, schematic capture, MS Office) and analytical techniques including electrical simulation
  • Familiarity with electrical CAD programs such as Mentor Graphics and experience in engineering drawing development
  • US citizen with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI and pass a polygraph

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Have an active Polygraph security clearance
  • Proficiency in Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, Xpedition, Hyperlynx, PSPICE, Saber, Xilinx Vivado, Siemens Capital or Zuken E3
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc)
  • Previous design or testing experience with Comms/Sonar/Radar receivers, or subsea electronics
  • Familiarity with Labview and/or MATLAB programming and troubleshooting
  • An interest in seeing production designs through manufacturing and test, locally, with the possibility of travel to field - sites for final sell-off testing

Primary Level Salary Range: $87,600.00 - $131,400.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
