We are seekingย an intermediateย levelย Electricalย Engineerย to support the design and fabrication teamsย and who alsoย bringsย professionalismย and dedication to the work we do and the communities we serve.ย ย
The successful candidate willย demonstrateย experience inย theย selectionย and sizingย ofย electricalย equipment forย water and wastewater treatment systems.ย ย
Responsibilities:ย
- Perform analysisย toย sizeย electricalย equipmentย thatย meetsย Client specifications, codes, and standards.ย
- Act as electrical lead on projectsย
- Review engineeringย documentย and verify compliance of selectedย electricalย equipment to client specifications and industry standards and codes.ย ย
- Work with theย electrical and I&C (instrumentation and controls)ย designย and fabrication teams toย support:ย
- Verifyingย equipmentย selectionย andย sizingย providedย byย the application engineeringย group.ย
- Schematic and wiring diagram development (AutoCAD Electrical / EPLAN)ย
- Panel layout design,ย componentย sizing, thermal analysis, cable managementย
- BOM creation andย componentย selectionย (breakers, drives, PLCs, HMIs, relays, PSUs)ย
- Load calculations, short-circuit analysis, cable sizingย
- Control system architecture definition (not platformย selectionย or programming)ย
- Review ofย Fabrication Drawings, Assembly Drawings, Bills of Materials,ย General Arrangement Drawings, Equipment Layout,ย andย supports the development of change orders,ย etc.ย
- Assistย project managersย with client needs by taking part in client meetings or calls.ย ย
- Evaluate and recommend cost-effective design options without compromising quality and performance.ย
- Collaborate with internal departments (fabrication, sales, etc.)ย and external stakeholdersย (vendors, owners, owners' engineers, etc.)ย to achieve desired project outcomes.ย
- Stay updated with industry best practices and technologies through training and self-improvement initiatives.ย
- Helpย inย the continual improvement of AWC's Quality Management System's practices, procedures, templates,ย and checklistsย byย participatingย in design reviews, feedback sessions, and process improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and efficiency.ย
- Assistย in the development of standard product offeringsย
- Mentor and train junior team members.ย
Requirements
- Post Secondary Degree inย Electricalย Engineeringย
- Holds active P.Eng. registration in the province of BC or Alberta.ย
- 5-10ย years of work experience designing, sizing, and selectingย processย electricalย equipment. Designing and developing electrical and control panels.ย ย
- Strong communicationย and written skillsย
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite, exposure to Autodesk products is an asset.ย
- Strong understanding of engineering first principlesย utilizedย in the design ofย electrical and controlsย systems is an asset.ย
- Eligible to work in Canada.ย
