Job description

The City of Orrville Distribution Department is seeking a qualified Line Worker II. Individuals in
this classification handles customer service, line outages, and emergency problems on
secondary lines up to 600 volts with minor supervision. Repair, test, and install three-phase
electric meters independently without close supervision. Trains new employees and
subordinates., plus other duties related to the construction, maintenance, and extensions of
electric lines. Advancement opportunities available. The pay range is from $31.86 to $39.85,
plus benefits.


Qualifications: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; specialized training and/or
experience in line work that includes verifiable, certified training and experience in climbing. A
copy of certificate must accompany application. Must have at least 2 (two) years experience as
a Line Worker I or Line Worker C. Must have a valid Ohio Drivers License and a Commercial
Drivers License (CDL). Must complete attached Qualifications for Testing form and submit
with application.


Military Credit: Applicants who have been honorably discharged from active duty in the armed
forces of the United States are eligible to receive an additional credit of 10% if they receive a
qualifying (passing) score of 70%. A copy of your DD-214 must be submitted along with the
application. No credit will be given if the appropriate documentation is received after the
deadline.


Application Period: This is a Civil Service position, filled only by application and written exam.

5:00 pm.


Exam Information: Exam will take place on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 6:00 pm at
Schmid Hall, 501 Hall Street, Orrville, Ohio. Doors to the building will open at 5:50 pm and the
exam will start promptly at 6:00 pm. Allow 1 hour for the exam.


To be admitted to the exam, you must show a valid Ohio Drivers License upon arrival.
Calculators will be provided, if necessary. Please save the date, time and location of the
exam. The exam is open to all citizens and those who have legally declared their intentions of
becoming citizens.
Special Note: Passing candidates will also take a practical exam and must provide their own
tools, climbing equipment, and sign a waiver. Practical exams will be administered by scheduled
appointments. Passing candidates should be prepared to schedule their practical exams
beginning September 21, 2026 September 25, 2026, between the hours of 8:00 am 2:00
pm.
