Position: Electric Engineer

Duration: Full- Time + Great benefits 

Location: Tampa, FL 

Will work about 75% in the office, 25% on site, may vary.


WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Working overtime including nights, weekends and holidays may be required.

"On Call" availability as needed for 24/7/365 system outages and emergency preparedness.

Must be willing and able to do site visits.

Local travel required.

POSITION CONCEPT:

The Engineer II to Senior Engineer position is responsible for project engineering, planning, coordination, and budgeting as it applies to telecommunications transmission/radio systems. This position requires competence in the area of telecommunications systems engineering and judgment in the selection, adaptation and modification of standard techniques for engineering and installation of telecommunications systems and sub-systems.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides detailed engineering analysis and planning for the design and implementation of an efficient, robust and cost effective wide area fiber optic/microwave hybrid network for support of vital company functions including protective relaying, SCADA, voice, EMS, data, and video communications.

Provide engineering and business support for the operation of a metropolitan fiber optic network, which delivers dark fiber to telecommunications companies Assist in determining project, work order and documentation processes for an effective and efficient delivery of services and Metro-Link Customers. Establish and revise drawings and documentation for the assigned systems as needed.

Write the detailed installation instructions required to install and maintain an ever evolving network of telecommunication electronics consisting of channel banks, SONET gear, Ethernet switches, and other telecommunications equipment.

Ability to manage time and utilize available resources effectively, acting as project manager and/or engineer when assigned.

Maintains a method of planning and organizing the engineering assigned tasks to accomplish a high level of productivity to meet schedule and budget goals.

Assisting in the preparation and review of the Telecommunications Engineering budget to include providing input to the 5-year plan.

Assisting Telecommunications Operations in check-out and turn-on of telecommunications systems and sub-systems designed by Telecommunications Engineering.

Analyzing the performance of the transmission and radio network and make recommendations for improvement or re-design.

Assists in short range and long range network planning for the transmission and radio network. Develops requirements and specifications for equipment and systems to be purchased.

Providing Telecommunications engineering support to internal customers.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENCES/CERTIFICATIONS: 

Required:

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited institution.

Minimum of four (4) years of direct work experience related to short-term and long-term telecommunications network planning to include the installation and testing of fiber optic systems and microwave radio systems.

Valid driver license and a good driving record.
