This senior-level technical professional will independently lead highly complex design and field staking activities for overhead and underground electric distribution systems in support of multiple utility clients. The role requires advanced technical expertise, strong field and project leadership experience, and the ability to oversee projects from initial concept through completion with minimal direction.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the design of complex medium-voltage distribution lines, service extensions, system upgrades, and reliability improvements
  • Rapidly develop proficiency with client-utilized software, specs, and processes, and train junior team members accordingly
  • Perform advanced field staking activities, including route evaluations, equipment and structural assessments, site measurements, and right-of-way reviews
  • Develop, review, and approve detailed construction drawings, work orders, cost estimates, and supporting documentation
  • Analyze and interpret field data, system records, maps, drawings, and aerial imagery to determine optimal, cost-effective design solutions
  • Serve as a primary technical point of contact for clients, property owners, and customers on assigned projects
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and quality control oversight for Designer/Staker I, II, and III team members
  • Support project planning efforts, including scope development, scheduling, and coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Ensure all designs meet or exceed applicable safety codes, utility standards, and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and an associate or technical degree; extensive relevant experience may be substituted for degree
  • Minimum of eight years of progressive experience in electric distribution design and staking
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects and work independently in both field and office environments
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to interface effectively with clients
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and clients, meet deadlines, and maintain strong client relationships
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Must live within commuting distance of Brighton, CO or be willing to relocate
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in surveying and joint-use projects
  • Bachelor's degree in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field
