Job description

Cardiac Testing Technician

Performs any non-invasive cardiac test available through the Cardiac Testing Center as well as a variety of cardiac procedures at a skilled technical level. Assists Physician/RN in other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree required.
  • Minimum one-year clinical background required, with knowledge of cardiac procedures, such as EKG, stress treadmill, and basic arrhythmia.
  • Medical terminology preferred.
  • Completion of an approved electro-cardio graphic techniques course required.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • EKG Certification required and Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association certification required.

Essential Functions:

  • Thorough knowledge of test data to ensure safe and accurate completion.
  • Promptly report preliminary reports of abnormal findings of moderate to severe consequences as it pertains to the medical wellbeing of the patient.
  • Responsible for assistance and recognition of an emergency that may arise in the department or at a patient's bedside (i.e. Code Blue, etc).
  • Responsible for maintenance of patient data and compiling test results for permanent records.
  • Utilizes order entry system to access orders and complete exams.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the RMC policies and procedures, and interact with patients, physicians, staff, and visitors in a way that demonstrate caring and that reflect the RMC mission and philosophy.
