Job Description 

The Aircraft Egress Systems Technician is responsible for the maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of aircraft egress and environmental systems. This role supports aircraft operational readiness by ensuring all assigned systems meet contractual, regulatory, and flightworthiness requirements. The technician will work under general direction while supporting maintenance operations, inspections, testing, and system validations on military aircraft platforms.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain aircraft seats and canopy ejection systems, gaseous oxygen systems, fire extinguishing systems, air conditioning, cockpit heat, pressurization, and ventilation systems.

  • Remove and install oxygen system valves, gauges, converters, and regulators.

  • Remove, install, inspect, and rig ejection seats, Cartridge Actuation Devices (CADs), shoulder harnesses, and lap belts.

  • Perform daily, pre-flight, post-flight, and periodic aircraft inspections.

  • Assemble, disassemble, and modify aircraft systems by changing, removing, replacing, or upgrading aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement engineering changes.

  • Oversee assembly, disassembly, and overhaul activities.

  • Configure aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment.

  • Troubleshoot complex pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair defective components.

  • Perform validation and verification testing of aircraft systems and components.

  • Document maintenance procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance, including repairs, test results, modifications, and inspection findings.

  • Inspect components and verify repairs for flightworthiness requirements.

  • Support and oversee training activities as required.

  • Work under general direction in a team-oriented maintenance environment.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Minimum of 5 years of aviation maintenance experience in egress systems, survival equipment, and/or related aircraft systems.

  • Experience installing and removing F-18 ejection seats.

  • Experience reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, engineering drawings, and maintenance procedures.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform maintenance tasks in confined spaces or elevated work areas.

  • Valid passport and ability to travel internationally.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Fighter aircraft structural modification experience.

  • Fighter aircraft electrical modification experience.

  • Ability to safely handle explosive devices and hazardous components.

Education / Experience:

Education and experience typically acquired through basic education such as a High School diploma or GED and typically 4 or more years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., vocational school with 2+ years related work experience, Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree, etc.).
