Work Environment

This position is offered as a full-time opportunity with the flexibility to work remotely, facilitating a work-life balance that accommodates the demands of a school setting. Regular business hours will be followed, with occasional evening availability when necessary, especially during peak times such as mid-term and final exam periods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and screenings to accurately evaluate the mental health needs of students, ensuring personalized treatment plans are developed.
  • Provide one-on-one counseling sessions, focusing on short-term therapeutic interventions and crisis management for students experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and other mental health challenges.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions and interactive workshops that cover pertinent themes such as coping strategies, stress management, and self-care practices.
  • Collaborate with faculty, academic advisors, and campus organizations to create a multifaceted support network, enhancing resources available to students.
  • Implement outreach initiatives that raise mental health awareness on campus, such as educational seminars and wellness programs aimed at promoting self-advocacy and mental wellness.
  • Maintain meticulous and confidential records of student interactions, ensuring compliance with ethical standards and legal regulations in mental healthcare.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on college-aged students within the educational setting, addressing the unique mental health challenges this demographic faces. This includes adapting therapeutic interventions to resonate with students from diverse backgrounds and fostering engagement in a holistic manner that prioritizes their academic success as well as mental well-being.

Qualifications
  • A currently active clinical license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related discipline.
  • A demonstrated understanding of the mental health complexities faced by college students, along with the ability to implement effective support strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for establishing rapport with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices and a range of therapeutic models appropriate for a university counseling context.
