Senior Construction Content Strategist

Job description

Description Clearstory is looking for a Senior Construction Content Strategist to be the credible, senior industry voice of our marketing organization. This is a landing spot for someone who has already spent a decade leading on the field and back-office side of construction, and who is ready to use that hard-earned expertise to shape how an entire industry thinks and talks about change order communication.
Your project experience becomes your platform: you'll set the point of view behind Clearstory's marketing, ensure everything we put into the world sounds like it was written by someone who's actually been on a jobsite, and lead that vision with a small content team and production support built around you.
What You'll Do
Industry Voice & Content Direction
  • Serve as the senior industry authority for all Clearstory marketing - review, validate, and fact-check content across the org, with real authority to send it back if it doesn't ring true
  • Set the point of view and topics for high-impact content (video, ROI breakdowns, webinars, written guides), partnering with a dedicated content/production team rather than producing solo
  • Appear on camera and host webinars/live sessions as the face of Clearstory's industry credibility - production, editing, and scheduling support provided
  • Ideate and pitch content grounded in real jobsite and back-office pain points, at the level of someone who has done it
  • Responsible for creating product launch content and shaping the value and real world impact of any new feature coming to market.

Brand & Industry Presence
  • Build Clearstory's credibility with GC and specialty contractor audiences by drawing on your own standing and network in the industry (associations, boards, peer groups)
  • Represent Clearstory at trade associations, conferences, and industry events as a recognized peer, not a vendor rep
  • Grow a public voice (LinkedIn and industry channels) that reflects both your own reputation and Clearstory's point of view - existing following a plus, not required, since your credibility is built on career track record, not follower count

Cross-Functional Influence
  • Act as the internal subject matter expert across Marketing, Sales, Product, and Customer Success - the person every team checks with before something goes external
  • Partner with GTM leadership to align content with campaign priorities, product launches, and sales initiatives
  • Contribute directly to sales enablement: customer stories, objection-handling guides, and field-facing materials, drawing on real construction experience
  • Help build the underlying system - content playbooks, review processes, training for the broader content team - so this function scales beyond one person

Requirements
  • 8-10+ years of hands-on experience in construction operations - project management, superintendent, or precon/business development - on the GC or subcontractor side, ideally at a top-tier GC
  • Track record of influence beyond your own projects: training curriculum development, peer group or business-unit leadership, mentoring, or process/standards work across multiple teams
  • A real, earned reputation in the local/regional construction community - board seats, association leadership, mentoring programs
  • Deep fluency in change order management, project financials, and GC/sub dynamics, built from years of direct negotiation and closeout experience, not just observation
  • Comfort on camera and a natural ability to communicate complex topics in plain, direct language
  • Self-starter who can direct content and ideate without hand-holding - production and editing support will be provided, but the point of view has to be yours

Strong plus if you have:
  • An existing LinkedIn following or informal content presence in the construction space
  • Experience hosting webinars, podcasts, or panel/speaking engagements
  • Familiarity with SaaS tools or construction technology products
  • Experience training, coaching, or onboarding teams at scale
  • Experience using AI content creation tools to produce videos and collateral

About You
You've spent enough time in the field and the back office to know what actually matters to a PM, an estimator, or an owner trying to close out a job - and you've already proven you can move a whole team's thinking, not just your own site. You're not chasing your next project; you're ready to turn a decade of earned credibility into influence over how an entire industry - and a fast-growing company - talks about the work.
The Company You'll Join
Clearstory is a SaaS platform modernizing how construction companies communicate, approve, and track change orders and related cost workflows. We replace paper, spreadsheets, and email with simple, trusted financial workflows that help contractors get paid accurately and on time.
We are a Series B SaaS company with strong product-market fit, growing six-figure deals, and a large, underserved TAM. Our customers love us, our retention is strong, and we are building for long-term impact.
The Opportunity
This is a rare landing spot for someone who has already built a serious career in construction operations and is ready to turn that credibility into market-shaping influence rather than another project cycle. You will:
  • Own the industry credibility function for a category-defining product in construction tech
  • Work directly with GTM and Marketing leadership with real authority over how the industry perception of Clearstory is shaped
  • Build a body of work - and a team/process around you - that reflects a decade-plus of earned expertise
  • Have a clear path to a broader industry strategy or GTM leadership role as Clearstory scales

Benefits
  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity ownership
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) plan to support your long-term financial goals
  • Flexible PTO and company holidays
  • Remote-friendly work environment with flexibility and autonomy
  • Opportunity to work alongside a high-caliber, mission-driven team
  • Career growth and leadership opportunities as the company scales
