Job description

SUMMARY:
This part-time role (20 hours per week) is responsible for the day-to-day management and growth of the Fatherhood Coalition Program, including engaging with and providing services to fathers throughout the state of Delaware. To perform the duties of this role, you will need to complete and obtain a certificate in the Strengthening Families and 24/7 Dad curricula.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establish and maintain outreach efforts statewide to recruit participants and connect with community members and resource providers.
  • Develop and facilitate monthly groups to educate and support participants on parenting and emotional wellness.
  • Use the evidence-based Strengthening Families model to create treatment plans through the lens of the “five protective factors”.
  • Assist clients in creating goals and action items to address risk factors.
  • Provide monthly training to caseload utilizing the 24/7 Dad curricula.
  • Schedule, conduct, and document client consultations and follow-up appointments.
  • Refer participants to JFS and other agencies as appropriate.
  • Grow and maintain a statewide network of fathers who can provide peer support to one another.
  • Provide training to program mentors.
  • Prepare and maintain timely documentation, records, and reports in accordance with OPEI expectations, JFS protocols, accreditation standards, and other requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Elicit and manage sensitive, confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Provide clients with ongoing encouragement and support.
  • Assist clients through any crisis that may arise, e.g., eviction, job loss, domestic violence, mental health crisis, etc.
  • Work cooperatively with community agencies that assist clients who are dealing with substance abuse.
  • Perform activities and disseminate information on the impacts of drug, alcohol, and tobacco usage on the family.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Community Partnerships amp; Capacity Building:
  • Provide technical assistance and support to the Delaware Fatherhood and Family Coalition (DFFC)
  • Help bring together area residents, leaders, and influencers to find and implement solutions to community problems.
  • Increase community collaborations and partnerships.
  • Increase community awareness of existing programs and services.
Training, Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to present effectively.
  • Ability to work autonomously, adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility.
  • Understands family dynamics and typical reactions to social stress factors.
  • Displays excellent judgment, with prior experience and knowledge of privacy and confidentiality regulations.
  • Ability to be proactive and culturally sensitive.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite and databases.
  • Strong reporting and administrative writing skills with experience managing processes, analyzing information, and solving problems.
Education Requirement:
  • 2-4 year degree. Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field.
  • Previous job or student placement experience in child welfare or family serving agency ideal.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Outlook.
