Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:  

To coordinate / co-coordinate the activities of the Family Practice Residency Program, Podiatry Residency Program, and to assist with any additional Residency and Fellowship Programs in which the Hospital becomes accredited to train.  To assist the Undergraduate Medical Education Administrator with the activities of the undergraduate medical education (student-physician) program, as needed.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the overseeing of the day-to-day activities of the Residency / Fellowship Programs and Student-Physicians (as necessary).

    • Ensure that the department coordinates residency schedules, lectures, didactics, and all other daily activities of the residency programs and student programs (as needed)

    • Ensure that the resident-physicians / fellow-physicians / student-physicians (as needed) have appropriately maintained logbooks and all necessary records as part of their training.

    • Ensure that the department maintains historic records of the program, including the ability to verify the participation and completion of all graduate physicians in the training program.

    • Ensure that the department maintains accurate records of participants’ activities.

    • Ensure that the department coordinates student rotations with medical universities and other clinical programs, as needed, in coordination with the undergraduate medical education administrator.

    • Ensure that the department coordinates resident / fellow vacation and leave requests with Program Directors, call schedules and case presentation schedule

  • Monitors and stays current on the individual and program requirements for internship / residency / fellowship program.

  • Provides administrative support for all intern / resident / fellow educational activities.

  • Demonstrates effective skills in recruiting, interviewing, and selecting new interns / residents and using the respective software for each program’s accreditor.

  • Ensures compliance with all hospital policies and procedures, regulatory agencies, and ACGME / CPME standards.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Exhibit a broad range of knowledge in the planning, coordination, and implementation of educational and training programs to meet the needs of all participants.

  • Exhibit skills in information management, including use of word processing and data processing (i.e. Microsoft Office, Google Workspace)

  • Knowledge of New Innovations residency management program desirable.

  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Use language and mathematical skills to analyze and interpret financial reports, statistics, and related materials.

  • Identify problems and make decisions based on experience and judgment, as well as on established facts.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) desirable. 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Light Work:  Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.  Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, requires sitting most of the time.

QUALIFICATION:

Specific Vocational Preparation: 

  • Four-year degree (bachelor’s degree or equivalent) required, with preference for graduate degree or advanced training / certifications in relevant fields. Two-year degree (associate degree or equivalent) with significant experience in graduate medical education will be considered.

  • Prior work experience involving graduate medical education in a health care / hospital setting required.
