Job Description:

Arizona PBS, a service of Arizona State University, is expanding its statewide community presence through the Arizona PBS Education Outreach Ambassador Program. We are recruiting passionate, community-connected educators and professionals across Arizona to bring PBS educational programming, workshops, and resources directly to the families and communities where they live and work.

This is a part-time, flexible position designed to fit the schedules of working professionals. Ambassadors can build their own schedule by proactively reaching out to schools, libraries, and community organizations to host PBS-aligned programs and workshops. In addition, Ambassadors may be called upon by their supervisor to support special outreach events and community programming days as opportunities arise.

This role is an excellent fit for current teachers, librarians, family advocates, or anyone who already works with young children and families and is looking for meaningful, flexible supplemental work. No two weeks look the same, and the impact you make is directly connected to the initiative and creativity you bring to the role.

Ambassadors must commit to completing a minimum of six pre-approved events every six months to maintain active status in the Ambassador Program. These six events must include two Family Math workshops, two Healthy Smiles events, and two community outreach events.

Available Locations: Maricopa County, Navajo County, Colorado City, Pinal County, Yavapai/Coconino County, La Paz/Mojave, Pima County, Gila County

What To Expect

Ambassadors set their own pace. You decide when and where you host programming based on your availability and the community connections you build. Arizona PBS will equip you with everything you need during onboarding, including training, materials, and ongoing support from your supervisor. In return, we ask for professionalism, follow-through, and a genuine commitment to the communities you serve.

To remain in active Ambassador status, you must complete a minimum of six pre-approved events per six-month period, including two Family Math workshops, two Healthy Smiles events, and two community outreach events. Ambassadors who do not meet this minimum may be transitioned to inactive status.

Position Salary Range:

$25 per hour

Essential Duties:

Training and Onboarding

• Complete the Arizona PBS Education Outreach Ambassador Training, a two-part series of two-hour sessions (virtual or in-person) held prior to your first event. Ambassadors are compensated for all training hours attended.
• Develop working knowledge of Arizona PBS educational programming, Family Math workshops, Healthy Smiles events, and other outreach resources provided during training

Workshop and Program Facilitation

• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate Family Math workshops, Healthy Smiles events, and community outreach programming in alignment with Arizona PBS goals and grant deliverables
• Deliver engaging, age-appropriate programming for PreK through third grade students, families, and community members
• Proactively reach out to local schools, libraries, community centers, and nonprofit organizations to schedule and host PBS programs and workshops in your community
• Represent Arizona PBS with professionalism, enthusiasm, and cultural sensitivity in all community settings

Community Partnership and Outreach

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with local schools, libraries, early childhood programs, and community organizations to expand awareness of Arizona PBS resources
• Promote Arizona PBS educational tools, programming, and initiatives to families, educators, and community partners
• Support special outreach events and community programming days as requested by the Assistant Director of Education & Community Impact

Data Tracking and Communication

• Maintain accurate records of all events, workshops, and participant data in the designated tracking system
• Communicate regularly with the Arizona PBS Education & Community Impact team regarding event progress, outcomes, and any participant feedback
• Submit event documentation and data in a timely manner in alignment with grant reporting requirements
• Be receptive to coaching and feedback on facilitation strategies and program delivery

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Library Science, or a closely related field
• Current or recent experience as a classroom teacher, librarian, family services professional, or early childhood practitioner
• Bilingual proficiency in a language prevalent in your community (Spanish, Navajo, and other languages are a strong plus)
• Experience facilitating workshops, leading group instruction, or presenting to adult audiences
• Self-directed and organized with the ability to manage your own schedule, track data independently, and follow through on commitments
• Strong written and verbal communication skills including professional email and phone etiquette
• Familiarity with Arizona PBS resources, PBS Kids programming, or early childhood educational frameworks is a plus
• Current and valid Arizona driver's license and reliable personal transportation
• Current Arizona fingerprint clearance card
• Ability to lift and transport materials up to 25 pounds
• Reside in or have strong ties to the county or region for which you are applying
• Professional appearance and conduct in all community and school settings
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within your county or region
• Availability to attend both Ambassador training sessions prior to your first event
• Ability to occasionally travel to the Arizona PBS main office as needed
