Job description

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has an opportunity for one (1) individual to assume the position of a Document Server I in the Document Services Section. ย The Document Service Section is responsible for receiving, tracking, serving and concluding all Criminal and Traffic related documents for the City of Edmonton as well as outside agencies. ย The successful candidates will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Service of documents and completion of affidavits in compliance with statutory requirements and Police Service policies.
  • Follow-up and investigative duties to locate subjects and businesses.
  • Prioritize and organize folders and documents.
  • Provide information regarding the service of documents, Edmonton Police Service, City of Edmonton, and initiate referrals as required.
  • Complete signing in/out of vehicle, radio and equipment as required.
  • Perform other related assignments as required.
Qualifications
  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade. Completion of the two year Community College Law Enforcement Diploma or an equivalent and one year of experience in public contact work. The applicant must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's License, must be able to obtain a City of Edmonton Driver's Permit and must be able to qualify for the Community Peace Officer II designation.
  • Knowledge of court processes and the criminal code as it pertains to the service of documents.
  • Self motivated and able to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to use mature judgment, tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public.
  • Practical testing of competency skills will be conducted.
  • Probationary period of six (6) months will apply to this position.

Hours of Work: 40 Hours per week, Monday - Friday

Salary Range: 21B, Salary Grade: 014, $29.92 - $37.55 (Hourly); $2,393.90 - $3,004.20 (Bi-Weekly); $62,481.31 - $78,408.58 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton
