The Bakersfield Condors are an American Hockey League (AHL) team based in Bakersfield, California, committed to providing the best in affordable family entertainment. Role Summary:
Reporting to the Coordinator, Event Operations and Retail, the In-Game Host is responsible for being the on-screen personality for contest and promotions throughout Bakersfield Condors home games at Dignity Health Arena. The In-Game host is a part-time role that will be responsible for hosting a variety of in-game elements to create a fun and exciting atmosphere for all fans.
Core Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Be the on-screen personality emceeing and hosting game entertainment activities on the ice in accordance with overall game script
  • Memorize and recite scripts with the ability to improvise as needed
  • Ensure all promotions and activities are explained clearly and accurately to fans prior to the start of their in-game elements
  • Engage with crowd to create high energy and impactful moments
  • Host on ice interviews during intermissions
  • Assist game presentation staff as needed in overall execution of all live elements throughout the event including fan engagement, promotions and sponsorship activations, mascot interaction, scripted announcements, etc.

Education, Experience and Skills:
  • Must be local to the Bakersfield Area
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Fun and engaging personality
  • Comfortable working in large crowds
  • Experience speaking into a microphone
  • Will be required to be standing for long periods of time
  • Ability to work under pressure, following scripts and timelines, while being able to improvise as needed
  • Passion for the sports and entertainment industry
  • Ability to take feedback and implement into performance
  • Schedule flexibility to work game nights; will be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays based on AHL schedule
  • Knowledge of hockey and/or Condors events will be considered an asset

Compensation:
This role is budgeted with an hourly wage of $16.90.
