Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 15,500 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. Our District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9-12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

The Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 has set an ambitious agenda for change, guided by the belief that all children, regardless of circumstances, can achieve at high levels and academic gaps can and will be eliminated with the support of teachers who deliver engaging, relevant, and academically rigorous instruction that excites students and instills a love of learning in them.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Classroom Teacher will be directly responsible to the Program Coordinator, Coordinator and building principal for all matters pertaining to the operation of the school plan, in-building administrative and personnel procedures, and general or district-wide policies.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide a personalized instructional program that is compatible with the abilities, needs and learning characteristics of each student;
2. Collaborate with case manager to ensure that appropriate accommodations are being made;
3. Implement prescribed curriculum;
4. Employ creative methods of instruction and utilize a variety of materials within the structure of the designated curriculum;
5. Become acquainted with the characteristics, needs, abilities and supports of each child through personal interaction.
6. Inform the program coordinator and take proactive steps to remediate unsatisfactory student attendance and provide weekly updates to the program coordinator;
7. Maintain up-to-date lesson plans;
8. Supply the program coordinator with a weekly schedule of course work and of completion of credits for each student;
9. Maintain up-to-date online lesson plans
10. Develop a close relationship with each students parents or guardians
11. Provide for daily parent/guardian contact for all absences;
12. Facilitate student learning using Edmentum computer-based curriculum;
13. Instruct and respond in an appropriate manner with students;
14. Facilitate student learning using an online learning platform and other blended and instructional learning practices, including the use of Edmentum;
15. Instruct and respond to students using cultural responsive practices.
Qualifications: Must have valid Illinois Professional Educators License; be computer literate and have a working knowledge of the Edmentum Online Program and/or an online learning experience.
