Job description

Oracle DRM / EDM Developer Analyst
Location: Atlanta, GA or Birmingham, AL (4 days onsite)
JOB SUMMARY
Provide primary support for Oracle Data Relationship Management (DRM) - Southern Company's current on-premises master data management platform - while leading or contributing to the strategic implementation of Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud (EDM Cloud), targeted within the next 9 months. Responsibilities span application administration, metadata governance, hierarchy management, integration support, and data quality across both platforms. The ideal candidate brings hands-on DRM experience and demonstrated exposure to EDM Cloud, enabling a smooth transition. Bring an AI-native mindset to accelerate analysis, automate governance processes, and resolve issues faster.
Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Administer and support Oracle DRM (on-premises), including dimensions, hierarchies, properties, nodes, glyphs, viewpoints, node types, and related metadata objects; serve as primary platform owner through EDM Cloud cutover.
  • Lead or support the implementation of Oracle EDM Cloud, including environment setup, application and adapter configuration, dimension modeling, workflow design, subscription configuration, and controlled cutover from DRM.
  • Build and maintain derived properties and expressions: DRM formula/scripting language for on-prem, and EDM Cloud expression framework for cloud; support both during the transition period.
  • Design and maintain validations, business rules, and data quality checks enforcing corporate governance standards, data stewardship requirements, and segregation of duties controls in both platforms.
  • Configure and support change management workflows in DRM Governance (DRG) and EDM Cloud, including request types, request sets, approvals, validations, subscriptions, and audit tracking.
  • Manage enterprise metadata lifecycle: hierarchy maintenance, alternate hierarchies, version control, lineage tracking, SOX-compliant change documentation, and auditability across DRM and EDM Cloud environments.
  • Develop and maintain metadata integrations between DRM/EDM Cloud and Oracle tools (Cloud ERP, Cloud EPM, Hyperion Planning, HFM, Essbase) and downstream systems, leveraging EDM Cloud pre-packaged application adapters, REST APIs, EPM Automate, and OIC.
  • Manage Oracle EDM Cloud monthly update cycles: review release notes, assess functional impact, execute regression testing, and coordinate change management for production updates.
  • Apply AI-assisted diagnostics, anomaly detection, and automation to improve data quality, governance efficiency, and issue resolution while maintaining appropriate controls.

Qualifications
EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, MIS, Data Analytics, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 3+ years hands-on Oracle DRM (on-premises) experience in master data management, hierarchy management, metadata governance, and data quality - required.
  • Oracle EDM Cloud experience (implementation, configuration, or administration) - strongly preferred; candidates with DRM experience and demonstrated EDM Cloud exposure will be prioritized.
  • Experience configuring DRM dimensions, hierarchies, properties, nodes, viewpoints, validations, workflows, and subscriptions; equivalent EDM Cloud configuration experience is a plus.
  • Experience with DRM formula/scripting language; familiarity with EDM Cloud expression framework for derived properties and transformation logic - preferred.
  • Experience with EDM Cloud pre-packaged application adapters (Oracle ERP Cloud, EPM Planning, FCCS, or similar) and the REST API for metadata synchronization - preferred.
  • Knowledge of DRM/EDM integrations with Oracle Cloud ERP, Cloud EPM, Hyperion Planning, HFM, Essbase, OIC, EPM Automate, and downstream systems.
  • Experience with ERP metadata synchronization and data mappings bridging ledger accounts, cost centers, entities, alternate hierarchies, and reporting structures.
  • Experience supporting or executing a DRM-to-EDM Cloud migration - a significant plus.
  • Hands-on experience using AI assistants (Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar) to support metadata analysis, documentation, expression logic, and anomaly identification.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & CAPABILITIES
Core DRM / EDM Cloud & Integration Skills
  • DRM (on-prem): application configuration, dimensions, hierarchies, properties, nodes, glyphs, viewpoints, governance models, derived properties, and DRM formula/scripting language.
  • EDM Cloud: application and adapter configuration, EDM expression framework, request types, request sets, policy-based workflow design, subscription management, and cloud environment administration (test/production).
  • EDM Cloud application adapters: pre-packaged adapters for Oracle ERP Cloud, EPM Planning, FCCS, HFM, Essbase, and universal adapters for non-Oracle systems.
  • REST API fluency for EDM Cloud metadata synchronization, automation, and integration; EPM Automate for scheduled operations and bulk data management.
  • Oracle Cloud monthly update management: release note review, impact assessment, regression testing, and production update coordination.
  • Metadata integrations with Oracle Cloud ERP, Cloud EPM, Hyperion Planning, HFM, Essbase, OIC, data warehouses, and reporting tools.
  • SDLC discipline: requirements gathering, technical documentation, unit testing, environment migration, change control, deployment, and production support.
  • Strong MDM, metadata governance, data stewardship, data profiling, and controlled change management knowledge.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to finance, IT, audit, and business stakeholders.

AI Knowledge & Capabilities
  • AI-native mindset: defaults to AI-assisted approaches to accelerate analysis, improve data quality, reduce repetitive work, and resolve issues faster - using AI to amplify impact, not replace judgment.
  • Hands-on AI tool experience: demonstrated use of AI assistants such as Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar tools to support metadata analysis, draft documentation, generate expression/formula logic, summarize impact assessments, and identify anomalies in hierarchies and master data.
  • Prompt engineering fundamentals: ability to craft effective, context-aware prompts to get accurate results from LLMs applied to data governance, validation logic, and troubleshooting scenarios.
  • Responsible AI use: awareness of AI limitations including hallucinations, data privacy, and SOX/audit considerations; applies critical human review to all AI-generated logic, mappings, or recommendations before they impact controlled metadata.
  • AI applied to MDM: understands how Generative AI and AI/ML concepts apply to master data workflows - anomaly detection, data profiling, impact analysis, pattern recognition, and process optimization within DRM/EDM and downstream platforms.
  • Continuous improvement mindset: proactively explores emerging AI tooling to improve personal and team productivity. Familiarity with Generative AI tools expected; deeper AI/ML expertise in data governance is a plus.

BEHAVIORAL ATTRIBUTES
  • Strong ownership of DRM/EDM platform success, data quality, and governance outcomes.
  • Adaptable and proactive in a transformation environment; excited to drive the DRM-to-EDM Cloud implementation and transition.
  • Continuous learner with interest in EDM Cloud, Oracle integrations, automation, and AI-enabled analytics.
  • Results-oriented with focus on accuracy, reliability, auditability, and efficient delivery of controlled metadata changes.
  • Methodical approach to problem-solving, root cause analysis, impact assessment, and documentation.
