A leading digital streaming network seeks a Sports Editor, Writer, Sneak Peak to create, edit, and publish engaging sports content while supporting editorial initiatives across live events, evergreen content, and seasonal programming.
Sports Editor, Writer, Sneak Peak Responsibilities:
  • Write and publish original sports articles covering live events, matchups, results, schedules, standings, marquee events, and other timely sports news while producing approximately one article per day based on assignment complexity.
  • Create evergreen and discovery content, including how-to-watch guides, competition and team explainers, previews, viewing guides, and maintain season-long team and competition hubs.
  • Edit content from other writers, update existing articles to ensure accuracy and relevance, and maintain high editorial standards across all published content.
  • Apply SEO best practices while collaborating with editorial, marketing, publicity, sports programming, and other cross-functional stakeholders to secure approvals and optimize content performance.
  • Conduct thorough research, fact-check information, and manage multiple editorial priorities while delivering engaging, accurate, and timely content under tight deadlines.

Sports Editor, Writer, Sneak Peak Qualifications:
  • Experience as a digital sports editor, writer, or journalist with excellent writing, editing, copy editing, and headline-writing skills.
  • Deep knowledge of soccer and the NFL, with working familiarity across UFC, college football, and the broader sports landscape.
  • Strong editorial judgment with the ability to identify compelling story angles and produce accurate, engaging content under tight deadlines.
  • Experience editing other writers and providing actionable editorial feedback.
  • Working knowledge of SEO principles and search intent for digital editorial content.
  • Experience with WordPress or a comparable content management system (CMS).
  • Fluency with Google Docs and collaborative editorial workflows.
  • Strong research, fact-checking, organizational, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience at a major sports publication, newsroom, or high-volume digital sports operation is preferred.
  • Experience covering soccer or the NFL at scale is preferred.
  • Experience developing effective headlines, subheads, and article structures for readers and search is preferred.
  • Familiarity with audience insights, search trends, and content performance data is preferred.
  • Familiarity with sports streaming programming is preferred.

Shift:
  • 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, or 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Open to discussion).
