Digital Editor/Videographer
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Houston Rockets are seeking a creative, talented, dedicated, and driven professional with at least 3 years of creative video editing & videography experience. In this role, you will have a knack for editing viral, engaging, entertaining, trendy, & topical daily digital content, player features, highlights, promos, and deliver it for streaming services, apps, and social media platforms from start to finish, quickly &
efficiently, while meeting tight deadlines for the Houston Rockets and our partners as needed.
In addition to the above duties, you will cover, film, edit, and produce content for various Houston Rockets community, corporate, and ticket member events throughout the year.
RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
  • Demonstrate our One Team philosophy of Passion, Accountability, Customer Focus, and Teamwork.
  • Cover, film, edit, & produce daily team content and narratives as it unfolds.
  • Cover organizational events as assigned.
  • Ensure quality is maximized on all videos to ensure that they meet the company's branding guidelines, visual style, and technical standards.
  • Stay up to date with current team storylines, social media trends, topics, pop culture references along with striving to come up with new innovative ideas and concepts.
  • Edit social media features, promos, hypes, highlight packages, Instagram stories/reels, corporate sponsored elements.
  • Work closely with marketing, production, and social teams to build compelling video content on a daily basis for Rockets fans, our partners, and Landry's worldwide.
  • Serve as editor for videos including player features, highlight recaps, sponsor features, and other miscellaneous items.
  • Contribute compelling content ideas for digital and in-arena that elevate the Rockets brand.
  • Develop original video content for existing and potential fans, our partners, and Landry's over a variety of mediums.
  • Create features and videos from existing and new footage to target specific audiences, and multi-platform use.
  • Able to take requests, concept original ideas, work with existing footage, and turn them into highly produced pieces from start to finish.
  • Visual storytelling skills: knowing how to captivate viewers across multiple mediums.
  • High level understanding of ideation, storyboards, and pitching ideas that are within budget and on time.
  • Understand color correction, audio mastering, and use of different codecs.
  • Help build/log/maintain digital video library.
  • Use storytelling skills for both commercial length and short/medium format content.
  • Understand Basketball/NBA and the history of the franchise, and other verticals, such as the Houston Comets, Landry's, Fertitta Ent., and Golden Nugget brands.
  • Understand NBA/WNBA basketball and game strategy.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university with major coursework in film/broadcast/communications or equal experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional editing & videography experience for a sports team or post house.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays required as needed.
  • Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages (Avid Media Composer, Premiere, After Effects).
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of production, studio, & subject lighting.
  • Familiarity with 3D and compositing are a plus.
  • Live production/control experience.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments under pressure.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, time-sensitive department.
  • Demo reel or portfolio must be submitted with application for consideration.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, communicate with others.
  • The vision requirement includes the ability to review written and electronic materials in both digital and physical format.
  • The employee must be able to transfer and move items for departmental needs.
  • The employee must be able to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed in light of the strong focus on external communications and relationships.
