What You'll Do

As a Developer, Gas Generation, you'll lead the development of natural gas generation projects that support integrated energy solutions for large commercial and industrial customers.

You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout the full project lifecycle-from early-stage development through construction handoff-to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and successfully.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading gas generation project development from site identification through construction support.
  • Partnering with Commercial, Data Center Development, Renewable Generation Development, Solutions Engineering, and other internal teams to develop integrated Powered Land Solutions.
  • Evaluating project feasibility by coordinating siting, fuel supply, interconnection, infrastructure, and permitting strategies.
  • Managing project schedules, budgets, forecasts, financial models, and development risk registers.
  • Coordinating pipeline identification, utility engagement, and fuel supply strategy while supporting commercial negotiations.
  • Working closely with internal and external stakeholders-including engineering consultants, permitting agencies, landowners, utility companies, customers, and contractors-to advance project milestones.
  • Supporting discretionary permitting efforts, public meetings, regulatory engagement, and environmental diligence.
  • Coordinating engineering, site due diligence, land activities, and infrastructure planning to keep projects on schedule.
  • Managing contracts and ensuring compliance with key project agreements, including site control, fuel supply, and commercial contracts.
  • Identifying project risks, recommending mitigation strategies, and communicating project updates to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Supporting project financing due diligence and ensuring accurate project documentation within AES systems.
  • Leading successful project handoffs to Construction once development milestones have been achieved.
  • Representing AES professionally while building strong relationships with customers, partners, regulatory agencies, and local communities.
What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, can manage multiple priorities, and is passionate about delivering innovative energy infrastructure projects. You may be a great fit if you have:

  • Experience developing natural gas generation or other large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, Environmental Science, or another related field.
  • Knowledge of project development, permitting, utility coordination, interconnection, pipeline infrastructure, and commercial contracting.
  • Experience working with fuel supply strategies, utilities, pipeline operators, or integrated energy infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with gas generation technologies.
  • The ability to collaborate across technical, commercial, and customer-facing teams to develop practical energy solutions.
  • Experience supporting data centers, large-load customers, powered land projects, or similar infrastructure developments (preferred).
  • Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse audiences.
  • The ability to balance multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel as projects and business needs require.
