Job description

MBDA Inc. is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector 1 for first shift. This is a great opportunity for a high-performing individual to join MBDA's Huntsville, Alabama, Team!
SUMMARY
The QA Inspector holds a critical role for the production program. Responsibilities of the QA Inspector include the performance of precision inspections on parts and finished products, determination of methods, sequences, and procedures for inspection, adherence to specifications and quality systems, as well as other duties to satisfactorily meet customer requirements. The QA Inspector reports to the Quality Assurance Supervisor.
This position is Monday through Thursday 5:30 am to 4:00 pm (10 hour shift with a 30 minute meal break x 4 times per week).
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform Incoming Inspections on hardware & material; perform In-Process and Final Acceptance inspections on MBDA-produced mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical assemblies/sub-assemblies intended for use by US military;
  • Receive & understand information provided in the form of Engineering Dwgs, Spec sheets, Parts Lists, Engineering Change Orders, Quality Inspection Plans, Procedures, and Work Instructions;
  • Generate Reports as needed (records of Inspections performed, non-conformance reports, problem reports, etc.);
  • Use on-line ERP system(s) to document inspection activities and accept/reject hardware/material;
  • Tracking and maintaining non-conformance on the floor.
  • Perform work in accordance with (IAW) company Quality Plans, Procedures and Work Instructions;
  • Perform FAIs/delta-FAIs IAW Company procedures and/or AS9102;
  • Support product sell-off to customer/government;
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities;
  • Act ethically at all times, respect others, foster teamwork environment

EXPERIENCE
Must have knowledge of how to efficiently use micrometers, height gages, gage blocks, radius gages, and calipers etc. to accomplish verification of conformance to technical data is required. The ability to communicate with peers and management effectively and generate necessary reports is essential.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school or GED. Minimum of 3 years' experience working in a Quality department or environment, preferably within a DoD environment.
  • Use of hand-held inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.) to consistently perform accurate measurements;
  • Use of standard suite of inspection tools (gage blocks/pins, thread gages, height gages, surface plate, calipers, etc.);
  • Experience performing Incoming, In-process and Final Inspections in a manufacturing facility executing DoD production Contracts;
  • General computer literacy/ability to use on-line applications/software to record Inspection results;
  • Experience generating inspection and non-conformance reports, ability to read/understand ENG Drawings (ANSI/ASME Y14.100-2013/ASME Y14.5-2009 formats) and written directions/instructions;
  • Experience in and/or understanding of ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 & Z1.9 'Sampling Standards For Quality Control' is a plus;
  • First Article Inspection (FAI) experience a plus;
  • Experience working in an AS9100/ISO9100 certified facility a plus;
  • Participation in Configuration Change Boards (CCBs) a plus, MRB/FRB (Material Review Board/Failure Review Board) experience a plus.
  • Product and parts lifting requirements (up to 40 pounds, sometimes repetitively)
  • Successful completion of On-The-Job Training within 90 days of being hired;
  • Ability to gain a U.S. security clearance
