Job description

FSB is a full-service Architecture and Engineering firm built on over 80 years of design excellence, technical innovation, and community impact. As digital infrastructure rapidly evolves, FSB is expanding our expertise in mission critical and data center design and weโ€™re seeking Mechanical Engineers who are excited by complex systems, high-performance environments, and engineering solutions that power the future.

We are currently seeking Mechanical Engineers at multiple levels, from entry-level to senior leadership, to join our growing mission critical engineering team. Whether youโ€™re beginning your career, advancing into project leadership, or bringing extensive experience delivering complex infrastructure projects, FSB offers the opportunity to help design the next generation of high-performance data centers and mission critical facilities.

Our engineers play a key role in creating resilient, scalable, and energy-efficient environments that support the rapidly evolving demands of cloud computing, AI, hyperscale infrastructure, and critical operations. From advanced cooling strategies and redundancy planning to high-density infrastructure coordination, youโ€™ll work on projects where reliability, uptime, and performance are essential.

At FSB, youโ€™ll collaborate closely with architects, electrical engineers, technology specialists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative data center solutions for hyperscale, enterprise, colocation, and edge computing clients while also supporting select aviation, federal, commercial, civic, and tribal projects.

If youโ€™re passionate about engineering systems that support critical operations and emerging technologies and youโ€™re ready to grow with a team that values innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence, we invite you to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Design and document mechanical systems for mission critical facilities and data centers, including HVAC, cooling systems, plumbing, and building automation/control systems.
  • Support the development of resilient and energy-efficient infrastructure for high-performance facilities with a focus on uptime, redundancy, and operational continuity.
  • Produce drawings, specifications, diagrams, 3D models, sequences of operation, and technical reports aligned with project goals and client expectations.
  • Perform engineering calculations including cooling load analysis, energy modeling, airflow analysis, equipment sizing, and system redundancy evaluations.
  • Coordinate closely with electrical engineers, technology consultants, and architects to integrate cooling and infrastructure systems into mission critical environments.
  • Apply building codes, ASHRAE standards, energy codes, and industry best practices to deliver compliant and functional solutions.
  • Participate in client meetings, technical design reviews, and multidisciplinary coordination efforts.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and owners to deliver integrated project outcomes.
  • Support QA/QC efforts and construction administration activities, including submittal reviews, RFIs, commissioning coordination, and site observations.
  • Lead project documentation efforts, mentor junior staff, and oversee project deliverables (mid- and senior-level roles).

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across disciplines and with clients.
  • Critical thinking and creativity in solving complex infrastructure and design challenges.
  • Adaptability and organization in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment.
  • Mentorship mindset with a willingness to guide and support junior engineers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to technical clarity and detail.
  • Initiative in identifying innovative solutions and improving design and workflow efficiencies.
  • Interest in emerging technologies, sustainability, and mission critical engineering trends.

Qualifications

Entry-Level / EIT

  • Bachelorโ€™s or Masterโ€™s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • FE exam passed is preferred but not required.
