What this job involves:
As an building Engineer at JLL, you'll serve as a critical technical expert ensuring the reliable operation of complex mechanical systems in commercial and industrial facilities. This role goes beyond routine maintenance-you'll diagnose sophisticated equipment issues, implement preventative maintenance strategies, and serve as a trusted problem-solver for our clients. Your expertise will directly impact facility performance, energy efficiency, and client satisfaction while working with cutting-edge building automation systems. This position offers the opportunity to apply your technical skills across diverse mechanical systems while mentoring junior technicians and contributing to operational excellence in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment while ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and industry standards
  • Operate and maintain commercial boiler systems including steam, domestic hot water, and hydronic heating systems, performing inspections and executing repairs as needed
  • Utilize building automation systems to monitor facility conditions, track equipment performance, and respond promptly to hot and cold service calls with comprehensive customer feedback
  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, mechanical systems, and related controls using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) while documenting all work accurately
  • Perform mechanical upgrades and installations in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and code requirements, while recommending facilities reliability improvements and creating site operation procedures
  • Respond to emergency facility issues including plumbing, electrical, roofing, and carpentry situations, maintaining flexibility in scheduling to meet customer needs and providing after-hours on-site support as required
  • Mentor and assist lower-level technicians with work assignments, sharing technical knowledge and coaching to develop team capabilities

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • EITHER 2+ years of hands-on experience with maintenance and repair of commercial HVAC systems with EPA 608 Universal certification to handle refrigerants
  • OR 2+ years of hands-on experience with maintenance and repair of steam and hot water boiler systems with boiler operator certification from an accredited training program
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret repair manuals, specifications, technical drawings, and schematic diagrams
  • Strong computer skills for documentation, work order completion, and customer communication through digital systems
  • Physical capability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs., climb extension ladders and stairs, and perform repetitive bending, stooping, squatting, and reaching throughout shift
  • Availability to respond to after-hours on-site emergencies as needed

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with building automation systems and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency solutions and operations of diagnostic and testing instruments
  • Familiarity with a variety of mechanical equipment including pumps, fans, kitchen equipment, dishwashers, and plumbing fixtures
  • Background in performing mechanical installations and upgrades in commercial or industrial settings
  • Understanding of job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout procedures, and proper PPE protocols

Estimated compensation for this position:
93,600.00 - 104,000.00 USD per year
This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
