Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ER experience and a GA or compact RN license.
Details
- Community hospital Emergency Department setting
- General ED serving combined adult and pediatric patients
- 1:4 patient ratio
- Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
- Works every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Epic charting system preferred
Requirements
- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
- Community hospital experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Level I and Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
- Preferred certifications: CPI, ENCP, FHM, TNCC
- Skills needed include IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, central line care/management, and BiPAP/CPAP management
- Experience managing violent behavior and drug overdose patients required
- Experience with cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
- Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure required
- Isolation precautions/PPE and triage skills required
- Preferred skills include acute psychosis, psychiatric hold, suicidal patient care, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, and pediatric ED experience
- Two supervisory references (Manager or above) are highly preferred at time of consideration
Additional Information
- Provide emergency nursing care across a broad range of acute and trauma presentations
- Perform triage, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response for critically ill or injured patients
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this unit
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, which must be finalized prior to submission
- Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
- If one or two major holidays fall during the assignment, no holiday RTO can be requested
- If three major holidays fall during the assignment, one holiday RTO request may be considered
- Shift and schedule as listed are firm, with no alternate shift or schedule requests permitted
- Previous Piedmont employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be separated from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
- Travelers previously cancelled or not returned by a Piedmont facility must complete one assignment outside Piedmont before reapplying
