Their primary role is to collect blood for laboratory testing, which is crucial for diagnosing and treating patients quickly in emergency situations. ED phlebotomists must be skilled at working in fast-paced, high-stress environments and are trained to handle patients who may be critically ill or injured. They also ensure that samples are properly labeled and transported to the lab to maintain the accuracy of test results.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an ED phlebotomist?

To thrive as an ED Phlebotomist, you need a solid understanding of venipuncture techniques, infection control, and specimen handling, usually supported by a high school diploma and a phlebotomy certification.
