Title: Director of Emergency Services


Location: Houston, TX


Schedule: Full-Time, Days


Compensation: $128,000 – $191,500/year (based on experience)


Annual Performance Bonus: Up to 17.5%


Position Overview

A large, full-service acute care hospital is seeking a Director of Emergency Services to lead its high-volume Adult ER with approximately 85 FTEs. This role oversees a high-acuity environment, ensuring operational excellence, quality patient care, and staff development.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Emergency Department, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered care
  • Monitor regulatory compliance, hospital policies, and accreditation standards
  • Coach and develop ER managers and core staff, fostering professional growth
  • Participate in hospital committees, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives
  • Build strong relationships across the hospital and with community stakeholders
  • Support recruitment and retention of top talent in the ED
  • Oversee performance metrics, departmental programs, and continuous improvement initiatives


Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of recent acute care ED Director or Manager experience
  • Experience managing a high-volume Level I or II trauma center
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree preferred (Nursing, Business, Healthcare Administration)
  • Current RN license in practicing state
  • ACLS required
  • PALS or ENPC required
  • BLS required
