Job Description: Assistant Coach Junior High School Co-Ed

Classification: Licensed Extra Duty (One-Year Appointment)
ย Reports To: Head Coach, Athletic Director
ย FLSA Status: Exempt (Stipend)

Position Summary

The Junior High School Assistant Coach supports all Coaches in delivering a comprehensive interscholastic athletic program. The position focuses on skill progression, competitive readiness, academic accountability, and student development while reinforcing district and OSAA expectations.

Essential Responsibilities

Professional Conduct and Collaboration

  • Works cooperatively with the Head Coach and athletic staff


  • Attends required athletic meetings, events, and trainings


  • Maintains professional sideline conduct and appearance


  • Communicates appropriately with parents, athletes, and staff


Coaching Responsibilities

  • Assists with planning and conducting practices and competitions


  • Provides direct instruction in sport-specific skills and strategies


  • Supervises athletes during all assigned activities


  • Supports enforcement of team rules, eligibility, and discipline


  • Reinforces academic expectations and literacy through understanding playbooks, terminology, and written expectations


Program Support

  • Assists with equipment management and facility care


  • Encourages participation and positive school culture


  • Maintains safety, injury awareness, and conditioning standards
