Job description

Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) - Full Time
Schedule: 72 hours per 2-week pay period | 12-hour Night Shifts  (including weekends)
Location: Scripps Mercy Hospital, Hillcrest

Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego, located in the heart of Hillcrest, is the county's oldest medical center, founded in 1890. Our hospital provides a comprehensive range of services, including 24-hour emergency care, robotic surgery, prenatal services with NICU support, and outpatient rehabilitation.

As an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech), you will play a vital role in supporting patient care within the emergency department or urgent care setting. Working under the supervision of nurses and physicians, you will assist with essential clinical and operational tasks to ensure efficient, high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist nurses and physicians with patient care activities and procedures
  • Obtain and document vital signs
  • Perform patient care tasks, including thermal applications, non-sterile soaks, and simple dressings and splints 

    Collect stool and urine specimens

  • Transport patients as needed
  • Provide coverage for unit secretary duties when needed

Required Qualifications:

  •  Certified CA state issued EMT (EMT, AEMT or Paramedic) or CNA

  •  BLS Healthcare Provider Certifications through American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting
