Market Development Associate, Business Development & Strategy

The Market Development Associate, Business Development & Strategy is responsible for monitoring State and local level power market trends as well as trends with regional and global impacts, tracking industry trends, assessing competitive landscapes, and identifying strategic growth opportunities. This role reports to the SVP of Business Development, and supports business and market development, partnership and customer decisions, and TerraPower's market entry strategy through data-driven insights and analyses.ย ย 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth tracking and analysis of US power market trends in key states and localities of interest as well as targeted third country power market analyses.
  • Monitor policy and other trends to inform TerraPower nuclear deployment.
  • Track electricity demand trends, decarbonization targets, low carbon technology deployments with a view toward understanding Natrium's market fit in the context of low carbon strategies.
  • Monitor and track energy technologies and deployments in key areas and markets of interest.
  • Provide insights to support new market entry strategies.
  • Prepare market development trend briefings and presentations for senior leadership.
  • Produce status reports as assigned.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Energy, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 3-5+ years' experience, preferably nuclear.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • US and global power markets
    • Low carbon technologies, including nuclear reactor technologies
    • Energy transition policies
    • Electricity market structures
  • Experience with energy databases and market intelligence platforms.
  • Excellent analytical and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of low carbon technologies, nuclear power also preferred
  • Familiarity US Independent System Operators, Regional Transmission Operators, as well as state-level analogues.

Job details

Salary Range: $87,686 - $131,529

* We typically place offers in the lower to middle portion of the range to maintain internal equity and allow room for growth. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual's qualifications experience.ย  This range is specific to Washington State.
