Job description

Overview

NV5 is seeking a full-time Ecological Consultant for our Alachua FL office. This position will provide assistance to project managers, engineers, and senior environmental scientists with general ecological field surveys, biological inventory, wetland and stream delineations, state and federal protected species surveys, environmental permit preparation (ERP and USACE 404), scientific data interpretation, technical report writing, and planning tasks for the Ecology Group.

Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for task management
  • Conduct ecological field investigations and data collection
  • Provide technical report writing
  • Complete project tasks within deadlines and budgets
  • Conduct field research to assess the health and composition of wetland ecosystems
  • Collaborate with a team of scientists, engineers, and planners to design effective development and restoration projects
  • Prepare scientific reports, and presentations to communicate findings
Qualifications

Education, experience, licensure, and skills

  • BS degree in biology, botany, ecology, wildlife or similar field
  • 3+ years of experience with wetland delineations, permitting and listed species surveys in Florida or related experience required
  • Writing skills and ability to interpret and present field data in technical reports
  • Experience and positive relationships with regulatory agencies
  • Proficient knowledge with Microsoft Office programs
  • Willingness to travel for consecutive days/nights
  • Valid Driver's License with the ability to drive a company vehicle and an acceptable motor vehicle record
