Summary:

• Responsible for performing all diagnostic echocardiography procedures in a timely manner

Responsibilities:

• ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Performs ultrasound diagnostic imaging on patients according to the specific departmental procedure protocols.
• 2. Prepares equipment ensuring the equipment is operational, safe and functioning.
• 3. Actively participates with patient testing, performing routine, nonroutine, urgent and emergent patient requests.
• 4. Obtain patient history.
• 5. Provide post care and education to the patient.

• OTHER JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Performs echocardiograms on both adult and pediatric inpatients and outpatients, including complete M-mode and 2-Dimensional imaging studies, pulse wave, continuous wave, and color flow Doppler Studies.
• 2. Performs quantitative analysis of studies performed, including M-mode and 2-D measurements and complete Doppler analysis (i.e. quantization of regurgitation, calculation of pressure gradients, valve areas, and shunt calculation).
• 3. Has basic knowledge and understanding of adult and congenital heart disease and recognizes cardiac pathophysiology. Associates structural and anatomic abnormalities identified on echo imaging with appropriate hemodynamic and flow abnormalities, also performs appropriate Doppler Studies and analysis. Follows up on critical abnormalities appropriately.
• 4. Coordinates all record keeping activities for the echo lab, which includes hard copies and computer-generated reports and charges.
• 5. Participates in echo reading review sessions with physicians on a regular basis.
• 6. Instructs interested house staff and Cardiology fellows on technical aspects of performing and interpreting studies.
• 7. Responsible for patient education including but not limited to, explanation of the procedure including any discharge instructions. Documentation of patient education in the medical record.
• 8. Supervises and instructs visiting echo technicians under preceptor program.
• 9. Attends continuing education seminars and maintains state-of-the art knowledge of echocardiography techniques.
• 10. Supports customer service and performance improvement goals of the department

• collaborates with other caregivers/staff, within and outside the Department, to develop means of enhancing patient care and service.

• 11. Maintains standards of confidentiality.
• 12. Age-Specific Knowledge & Skills - Possesses the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to meet patients' physical, psychological and social needs with those growth and development levels/patient populations served within the department.

Credentials:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)

• RCS or RDCS (Required)

• Registered Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

• Other (Required)

• Education Specialization:Ultrasound School graduateEquivalent Experience:-Or 1-2 years' experience performing echocardiograms.-And 3 years of work experience in echocardiography.

Salary Range:

$32.50 - $51.85/Hourly
