Your Role on the Team
Position Summary:

Incumbent perform the full range of cardiac diagnostic ultrasound procedures and the more complex specialized procedures on adult and pediatric patients. This includes M-mode, 2 & 3 dimensional, color Doppler, pulsed Doppler, continuous wave Doppler, transesophageal echo, pharmacological and exercise stress echo, Holter monitors and ECGs. Recognizes and describes abnormal findings and tailors the procedure to provide a comprehensive exam. The cardiac sonographer makes the decision as to when an echo contrast agent &/or agitated saline injections according to the CVC policy. Will prepare and position patients, adjust equipment to best demonstrate area of interest, operate various stationary and portable equipment and imaging systems. Will rotate shifts and assignments as needed, including after hour on-call. The Sr. Ultrasound Technologist assists in the training of fellows and students as assigned. Also, this position will require traveling between all cardiology off-sites clinics where procedures are being performed.

What It Takes to be Successful
Required Qualifications:
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must possess A.R.D.M.S. and/or CCI Certification
  • Must have two years experience in cardiac ultrasound
  • Must have two years experience in adult echocardiology
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to regularly travel locally to Ambulatory Practice off-site locations
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Registered in pediatric echocardiography - RDCS
  • Must have two years of college with emphasis in Allied Health Sciences, preferably Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
